It’s also life saving! A couple of days ago, we were driving back from the beach at Starbase in Boca Chica TX. A car coming head on, quickly swerved into my lane. FSD slowed my car from 45 to 40mph and moved over on to the shoulder, before I knew what was happening. If I was driving, I may not have moved over in time. I also may have locked up my brakes. Both would have caused a head on collision. If I did move out of the way, I would have put my car into the ditch. FSD handled this situation perfectly, like it’s done a 1000 times.

FSD v14.2.2.4 still requires intervention to pass a train barrier when the lights are on but the barrier is up.

$TSLA down 3% on Dec deliveries missing the whisper number by 1%. The miss was so small it doesn’t matter to the long-term investment case. Total deliveries were 496k. Whisper was 500k. Actual consensus was 506k. I expected 502k. Dec deliveries were up 2% y/y, this compares to up 6% y/y growth in September, a 5% decline in June, and a 9% decline in March. While Elon is focusing investors on autonomy, EV’s still matter given those cars are the foundation of autonomy. All eyes now shift to Tesla earnings on Wednesday, January 29. Besides the usual focus on margins, investors will be listening for updates to Musk delivery expectations for CY25. Looking Ahead to 2025. The key question is what is the underlying demand for EV’s outside of tax credits? Keep in mind, about 20% of Tesla buyers make more than $300k a year, that can’t get the credit. BREAKING: Tesla says they are going to launch FSD in Europe and China in Q1 2025 (pending regulatory approval). FSD v13 will also launch in October 2024 with ~6x improved miles between necessary interventions. Unpark, Park and Reverse in FSD will launch around then too!

The 8/8 date for the Robotaxi unveiling is a hint from Elon with a sledgehammer that 🇨🇳 China is a #1 priority for the FSD/AV rollout. The 8 is a powerful number in China's culture and Elon could have picked many other dates but didn't for a reason. While the Western world has a historically grown culture of risk aversion and tries to avoid every single accident, injury or fatality by not allowing a new technology like autonomous vehicles on our roads, China is very different and believes that as a future leader in AVs, it has not only economic but also geopolitical advantages that justify accepting risks and accidents if it leads to success. Whether we like it or not China is making the right moves to win over the Western World with technology and the problem is that this is not even understood by top Western politicians. Tesla has a special role in China that no other European or US automaker has ever had, and that role is now expanding to autonomous vehicles. China's automakers will compete in China with the best technology for autonomous vehicles which is Tesla FSD so that Chinese automakers can become superior to all legacy automakers. Being the potential world number two in autonomous vehicles will boost BEV sales and give China direct access to consumers in all Western countries, and no protectionistic measures will prevent this.
