NEWS: EV consideration is skyrocketing in Australia. EV searches on carsales have increased by 77% recently. Meanwhile, non-EV owners saying they’d consider buying an EV increased by 19% (to 55%) compared to previous results from Nov 2025. Tesla was among the most popular searches.

**Ashok Elluswamy (Tesla's VP of AI / head of the AI team) is still leading FSD development at Tesla.**0 The X post you linked (from @techAU on March 14, 2026) quotes praise for @aelluswamy and speculates whether he's stepped away from FSD because of his involvement in "xAI/Macrohard" (aka Digital Optimus, a joint Tesla-xAI project for AI agents that can emulate entire software companies using screen/keyboard actions, Grok as the "thinking" layer, and Tesla AI hardware). The attached photo shows Ashok at a Tesla event. This is understandable speculation, but there's no evidence of any change in FSD leadership: - Ashok's X bio remains "Leading AI @Tesla." - As recently as March 11, 2026, he posted about actively hiring for the joint Macrohard/Digital Optimus project while explicitly tagging @Tesla_AI alongside @xai. - Elon Musk described Macrohard as a Tesla-xAI collaboration tied to Tesla's investment in xAI, and reports note Musk "redeployed" Ashok to reboot/audit it—**in addition to** his existing Tesla role, not instead of it. - Dozens of articles and references from late 2025 through early March 2026 (including as recently as 6 days ago) continue to call him Tesla's VP of AI Software, Autopilot/AI lead, and the key figure behind FSD v14 progress, robotaxi efforts, and Optimus AI.
