1/6: #Trump's primary mandate is to keep gas prices down, get #Grocery prices down, and deal with #immigration. #immigrationreform will be difficult and mostly will be lots of grand declarations that don't amount to much...

@aeaiyo @IanLotsanumbers @DerekJGrossman Nope, not even remotely accurate comparision. The German Nazis were evil. Imperial Japan was evil. Does that make all Germans and Japanese eternally evil? No. The German Nazis were defeated, as was Imperial Japan What rose from the ashes were good countries.

@Edward6633 @DerekJGrossman Bullshit. Vietnam and Mongolia are in China's camp, Tibet and Taiwan are legally China, Tibet unambiously integrated into Chinese society and economy, and the rest are vassals occupied by the United States military. Stop reading comic books and watching cable news.

@aeaiyo @IanLotsanumbers @DerekJGrossman Oh for Pete's sake, "Force for evil"! thanks to USA helping them post WW2, they created some of the best audio equipment ever seen. They created some of the best car brands ever made. They perfected the bidet. And more. And they did this despite having 2 A bombs dropped on them!

@aeaiyo @IanLotsanumbers @DerekJGrossman They became a force for good. China continues to live in the past. While Japan looks to the future, China stews over past grievances & insists on living in the past. Until China shows interest in being a good neighbor, Japan cannot possibly put their trust in China

@aeaiyo @IanLotsanumbers @DerekJGrossman Japan was indeed hostile to China during Japan's imperialist era of the 1800s-end of WW2. Since that time their government has drastically transformed. From the ashes of the 1940s, they Democratized, modernized, & became a tech powerhouse by the late 1900s...

@aeaiyo @IanLotsanumbers @DerekJGrossman that's actually an interesting theory I hadn't though of. But Japan gambling that two countries, that've been hostile for centuries, will suddenly pull 180s seems like a VERY risky gamble don't you think?

@IanLotsanumbers @DerekJGrossman China is the one who is disrupting stability with Mongolia, Japan, S Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Philippines, India & Tibet (and probably a few other places I'm forgetting to list). They're the ones over-fishing the region. It is laughable that you put the onus of stability on Japan

@Edward6633 @DerekJGrossman They are already occupied, and aren't supposed to even have a military. Why not just make nice with their neighbors instead of being a base for regional threat projection and instability?

@IanLotsanumbers @DerekJGrossman sure, Japan just has to surrender the Senkaku Islands, Okinawa, the Kuril Islands, half the Sea of Japan, all fishing rights, and disband their military, and they'll get a GREAT deal with China and Russia

@Edward6633 @DerekJGrossman They could rely on Russia and China to protect them, which is more logical than a country on the other side of the planet.

Just spoke to @POTUS about our European allies’ unwillingness to provide assets to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning, which benefits Europe far more than America. I have never heard him so angry in my life. I share that anger given what’s at stake. The arrogance of our allies to suggest that Iran with a nuclear weapon is of little concern and that military action to stop the ayatollah from acquiring a nuclear bomb is our problem not theirs is beyond offensive. The European approach to containing the ayatollah’s nuclear ambitions have proven to be a miserable failure. The repercussions of providing little assistance to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning are going to be wide and deep for Europe and America. I consider myself very forward-leaning on supporting alliances, however at a time of real testing like this, it makes me second guess the value of these alliances. I am certain I am not the only senator who feels this way.
