@mjc0ughl4n @TomOHanlon17 There is no ad hominem. Your words are your own, so don’t be upset when they are regaled to you. You made it abundantly clear how you feel about both the Irish language itself and Irish speakers

@robggill Why on earth should a foreign flag be flying in parliaments/councils of sovereign nations. That does not equate to support for another nation you retard

Everyone's slabbering but I say good for him! Love Island is a crock of 💩- everyone who does it is only looking a bit of fame/money & sure why not? Maura Higgins has done brilliantly from it.We Irish can be very judgemental of our own having "notions" so I say go ahead Sean lmao
Balls.ie@ballsdotie

According to reports in the Irish Examiner, Galway footballer Sean Fitzgerald has been shortlisted to feature in the upcoming season of Love Island. Here's the application he posted to his tiktok in February.

@RightInCorduroy If you are undecided on this issue, and you don't have a womb - then you should probably just shut the fuck up and let women decide.

We don’t all have the same political opinions, Caoimhe. Assuming we’re all the same, that’s a little homophobic isn’t it? 🤔 For the record, I don’t want to “restrict women’s abortion rights”. I am undecided on abortion as I can see both sides of it. But the 3-day wait should not be seen as a pro-life or pro-choice thing. It’s about ensuring women make a considered choice that’s right for them. Over 10,000 women didn’t go back for an abortion after the three day wait, since the introduction of abortion in Ireland in 2019. It is clearly needed. Did you want 10,000 women to be aborting pregnancies they DID want?

The concept of a gay man wanting to restrict women’s abortion rights ..😵‍💫

98.7% of all abortions carried out in Ireland in 2024 was within the 12 weeks. Abortion right up to birth is extremely extremely rare. Anyone who has to make that decision for whatever reason, medical, etc. They deserve sympathy, kindness and understanding
Senator Sharon Keogan@SenatorKeogan

We can see where this is going with the @SocDems. They won’t be happy until abortion is legalised up to and including birth. How many babies have been saved by the Three-Day Wait? They don’t know or care; their thinking is 'let’s abort more'. Pure evil.

OTD 1945 Churchill was at his mendacious worst when, in his victory in Europe address, he claimed the Irish frolicked with Germany, despite being aware of extensive Irish cooperation. DeValera's reply did not miss and hit the wall

Those who claim that Ireland is some kind of hellhole should check out our ranking on the UN’s Human Development Index & do please note that most of the countries at the top of that index are ones that have a tradition of receiving immigrants.

Immigration has been a positive thing for Ireland. We continue to need the skill sets that immigrants bring. Populists are those who offer simple solutions to complex problems. Immigration is an issue that needs to be managed just like all other public policy issues. My preference is to manage it from the pragmatic centre ground.

Michael McDowell makes some good points in this op-ed. People on the political centre ground need to make sure that public concerns about migration do not become a gift to the populist right. ‘Decent Irish people have concerns about migration. If we don’t listen, populists will’ irishtimes.com/opinion/2026/0…
