@zacodil DeFi measures security in audits… But failures often come from Operators Validators Coordination under stress

Resolv was audited 18 times. The exploited contract was reviewed. The vulnerability was never flagged. In December 2024, auditors reviewed this exact contract and found 5 issues, including a High severity bug in the fee function. One finding was literally called "Missing upper limit validation." But it was about price bounds in a different contract. The function that lets a single key mint unlimited tokens with no ceiling? Not mentioned. That's how audits work: a function restricted to a trusted role is "privileged, out of scope." Auditors verify code correctness, not whether trusting one key with unlimited power is a good idea. 18 audits couldn't prevent this. The flaw wasn't in the code - it was in the architecture.

@ResolvLabs did not fail because of a smart contract bug. It failed because of a trust assumption. An off-chain signer was enough to mint tens of millions in unbacked supply. There was no exploit in logic. It was just a break in the system around it. This is a reminder: That not all risk lives in the contract. Some of it lives in 👉🏼 1) validator behavior 2) operator coordination 3) slashing conditions 4) system-level dependencies And when they fail, the impact is huge. We focuses on what happens after deployment: Tracking validator activity. Mapping operator risk. Surfacing signals that affect protocol safety in real time. Because risk doesn’t end at audits. It evolves with the system.

We are currently investigating a security incident involving unauthorized minting of USR. At this stage: The collateral pool remains fully intact. No underlying assets have been lost. The issue appears isolated to USR issuance mechanics. Our immediate priority is to: 1) Contain the incident 2) Assess impact 3) Ensure legitimate users are not affected We are actively investigating and will share more updates shortly.

@Eigenwatch trying to understand this better, so this could have flagged the anomalous USR minting before validators included those transactions? essentially catching it at the mempool level?

Resolv gets exploited. USR depegs 90%. Somewhere, a crypto card user is still seeing "4.5% USD yield" on their app They have no idea what just happened. They don't know their app's treasury was routing through vaults exposed to USR if they haven't read through the specifics. They don't know what USR is. They didn't sign up for defi risk they signed up for This is the hidden architecture of consumer crypto products. The yield has to come from somewhere and when that somewhere blows up, the gap between what users see and what is actually happening underneath is enormous The real problem isn't the minting flaw. It is that the risk was too complex for the non-CT user to fully understand
Resolv Labs@ResolvLabs

Resolv has experienced an exploit that allowed the attackers to mint 50mn of unbacked USR. The team has currently paused all the protocol functions to prevent further malicious actions and is actively working on recovery.

We are aware of the security incident involving unauthorized minting of USR reported by Resolv and are actively investigating. As a precaution: - RLP has been disabled as collateral in the Arbitrum Euler Yield vault. - Euler Earn USDC on Arbitrum no longer allocates into Euler Yield. These steps isolate the exposure while we continue assessing the situation. We will provide further updates as more information becomes available.

For the first time in @LidoFinance's history, less than 90% of the protocol's TVL is controlled by Curated Operators. Community and Home stakers are quietly gaining share, making the protocol even more reliable, decentralized, and robust! Upwards only
