Sovereign intelligence is the starting point. @sreeramkannan: "Labs don't want to sell just intelligence. They want to sell the products of intelligence." Open weights give everyone the ingredient. The question is who turns it into science. The answer is OPEN NETWORKS. Scientists, AI builders, funders and people with problems, coordinating in the open.

AI labs won’t sell intelligence as a product. They will sell products of intelligence. The two most valuable products of intelligence are 1) Scientific inventions 2) Entrepreneurship: running companies These will be the biggest sectors of growth in frontier ai as routine software becomes cheap commodity. If we rely on frontier labs for open api access to frontier intelligence we will be grossly disappointed. They don’t want to sell you intelligence, only its products. We need open networks to maximize individual agency post AGI.

AGI is here. It is rapidly reconfiguring the architecture of power. Left unchecked, this technology will concentrate leverage in the hands of a few. Governments, corporations and the small number of labs able to harness it first. That is the default outcome. We do not accept it. For many people, AGI already feels less like empowerment and more like erosion. Expertise built over decades is being compressed. Jobs feel less secure. Entire industries are being reshaped by systems most people do not own, cannot access and cannot influence. The future is being built in a small number of rooms by a small number of people. It does not have to be this way. Humanity’s greatest advantage has always been coordination. Markets and the internet all expanded human agency because they allowed more people to contribute and build together. In a world where intelligence concentrates by default, coordination is the counterweight. We believe AGI can become the greatest expansion of individual agency in history, but only if people have the tools to coordinate at the speed of machine intelligence. Given Anthropic's demonstration of hubris with the release of Fable, I shared some thoughts yesterday with the rest of @eigenlabs on why our mission matters in this moment. These are dark winds. What Anthropic showed is they are increasingly willing to pull up the ladder after benefiting by collecting data from open internet, decades of shared open science, and open-source software such as PyTorch. The danger is not only closed AI. It is closed science: a world where the machinery of discovery is controlled by a narrow set of institutions, and everyone else operates under their permission structure. @eigenlabs exists to push in the opposite direction. Our mission is to build coordination tools that preserve and expand individual agency in a post-AGI world. That mission matters more now than ever. If closed labs centralize intelligence, open networks must decentralize agency. Sharing my note here so others can read it too.
