#BREAKING: New footage shows anti-ICE activist set fire outside immigration court in NYC.

There's a new guy at work and he's been here maybe two weeks and we're in a meeting and my boss is talking about quarterly goals or whatever and she goes "we really need to circle back to customer retention" and this guy raises his hand and goes "I have a question" and my boss is like yes and he goes "why do you always say circle back?" and the whole room goes quiet and my boss is like what and he goes "you say it like every meeting is there a reason we're going in circles why don't we just go forward" and someone coughs and he's still going "like I've been keeping track you've said it eighteen times in two weeks" and my boss just stares at him and goes "have you never worked in an office before" and he goes "I have but nobody said circle back this much it feels aggressive" and I swear my boss aged five years and she goes "it's just a phrase" and he goes "okay but like why circles" and she just moved on with the meeting. He got let go during his probation period today and I heard him ask HR if it was because of the circle thing.

“These are universal stories that apply to everyone.” Stop universalizing Western Civilization’s founding myths and pretending like they don’t belong to anyone. They are a story detailing the collapse of Bronze Age Greece and the founding myth of Rome. By their very nature, they are not “for everyone”. The Iliad, the Odyssey, and the Aeneid “belong to everyone” in the same way the Shahnameh and the Romance of the Three Kingdoms “belong to everyone”. Are we going to start seeing Hollywood cast a black guy to play Cao Cao too? I doubt it. The only ones who ever get erased in this endless quest towards making everything for everyone at all times is Western man himself.

Genuinely hilarious that these goobers can’t conceive of non-white people existing in a centrally located, world-historic ancient empire.

elite sophisticated cinephiles and rw chuds when Odyssey enjoyer midwits walk in the room

Universities and departments have to be more open to a wider spectrum of worldviews. (That includes viewpoint diversity in departments like economics!) The status quo is not sustainable, and quarantining all intellectual diversity to “Civics Centers” is not a solution either. 10/

And yes, I did read your tweet in full. You're the one who doesn't understand it, because you don't understand aesthetics. There's no 2,000-year rule for how this myth must look. From Aristotle to Scruton, art is mimesis: imitation of the universal, not the literal particular. Skin tone is not the essence of this story. Odysseus's cunning and his longing for home are. It's been remade and adapted by people of every race and nation for centuries. When left-wing radicals argued the classics were vehicles of whiteness and should be pulled from schools, conservatives said no. These are universal stories that belong to everyone. That was the right answer. You've just picked up their premise and pointed it the other way.

I love how Leftists have to constantly downplay Great Man Theory because it contradicts their ideology when all of us (including them) know it’s obviously true.

@memeticsisyphus I was never a Sam Harris guy, but once I heard him argue against free will it made it impossible to take him seriously. How does a smart person come to a conclusion that is so obviously contrary to reality?

this shot is so bleak lmao
