@Z___Naq @JN09924042 The whole point at the time was everyone assumed she was the nanny, but she was his wife (if he’s now married to someone else that’s an outlier I can’t control for!)

Too much focus is put on improving product managers as individuals - skills, mindset, development. This is local optimization. Good #ProductManagement requires system thinking. The biggest success factor is the mindset of the org.

@i_am_lorgue @samcwl @abouelatta_ali @Teddarific You wouldn’t You’d use a free tool until you’ve proved the value of running experiments or an open source development framework like Eppo or similar. If you really want to build, there is lots of literature out there but invest in fixing your data quality issues first.

@samcwl @abouelatta_ali @Teddarific Thanks for the resources Sam! Everything at this point. I guess I want to know how would you approach developing a system to run A/B tests at a smaller startup with no capacity to develop its own internal a/b testing platform

Last night, I had a nightmare I arrived @PrufrockCoffee, found it had suddenly closed and was now an ugly bookshop selling not very nice tea and coffee and cakes with only nuts in so my husband couldn’t have any. I was livid with rage at this series of events (in my dream)

@swardley I agree with you. But I was struck recently by the sheer number of powerful and formidable female characters in the book (given when Frank Herbert wrote it). In some ways the Atreides men wouldn’t be half as interesting w/o the female characters around them that drive the plot.

Watched Dune. Fabulous cinematography, acting, directing ... everything. However, it never escapes the underlying and relentless plod of a story in which oppressed poor people need a rich dude to save them. F&?ck Off! Hopefully they surprise us in the next installment.

@swardley Someone pointed out that Dune is basically Space Jesus turns into Space Hitler. Does it point out the problems of the saviour narrative?

@johncutlefish It's surprising how often I've seen companies index for "actionable solutions" in interviews like this. And with the influx of new PM hopefuls who stick to these " methodologies", product interviews have become a farce.

Managing up: 1) Understand what your managers are optimizing for 2) try to articulate it as a goal (eg in OKR format), even if they don't 3) Demonstrate that what you are suggesting will help achieve the goal. #productmanagement #influence

How are effects of online A/B tests distributed? How often are they not significant? Does achieving significance guarantee meaningful business impact? We answer these questions in our new paper, “False Discovery in A/B Testing”, recently out in Management Science >>

@DodoNerd I also think this is one of those intentionally inflammatory statements, where it just depends on intent if you care about AB testing AND User Research, you’ll be annoyed. this Almost automatically assumes you aren’t doing both at the same time which is stupid (frankly)

@DodoNerd This actually reminds me of a scene from the Last Unicorn. Fairly traumatic if you were a young boy I’m sure
