One thing I’m not seeing discussed is that MIN can play Gobert so much BECAUSE DEN’s defense is so bad. They can’t pressure Finch to take him off the floor because they can ignore him on offense and still score at will. SAS & OKC are much tougher matchups for MIN.

As someone who covers the entire NBA, I do a lot of bouncing around league pass, but I also watch most Nuggets games. During the three seasons since they won the title, the difference in how Denver games felt in comparison to almost every other team was sometimes jarring. They may care, but it doesn’t often look like it.
Finn Kuehl@finleykuehl

Denver’s biggest weakness, as goofy as it might sound, is really just that they lack dawg. They don’t defend. Only a few of their guys really hustle and give consistent effort at the little things and it isn’t their stars. These guys just don’t COMPETE like other contenders

I wonder how many guys would be called the greatest in the world and top 10 all time with as many middling regular seasons and playoffs as Jokic. One conference finals since the bubble, only two seasons over 52 wins. Meanwhile he is THE REASON Denver can’t get any stops.

@DraftDeeper Most important thing to scout imo. The modern game will find you and punish you if you can’t process quickly

Collin Murray-Boyles is another player in recent draft classes where his mind is his superpower. Yes he has excellent feet and length for a forward, but it’s how he just routinely beats guys to spots and is spatially aware of where he needs to be and when. Opportunistic player.

Adam Silver, sits down at a dimly lit table surrounded by shadowy figures dressed in cloaks while rubbing their hands together with glee: “Alright cohorts, how can we rig the league in favor of a small market team from the plain states?”

Dillon Brooks refers to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as “a little frail” while criticizing officials after Game 2: “This is the playoffs, a man's game. I used to watch this back when Michael Jordan was playing…when LeBron was younger, just physical basketball. I don't get why all the dropping, the falling and the flopping and flailing…and all this stuff is allowed when we get to the playoffs.”

@Tayler_P15 Feel like Minny has the worst body language in the league re: officiating, regardless of their opponent. It’s unknowable, but I wonder how much of his leadership has them feeling like victims when a whistle blows. Seems to be a bigger issue for them than most teams.

@coachnatebdraft It’s a good draft but I think for most of the picks it’ll come down to the best orgs…they’re gonna get guys in this draft. Lots of elite skills and player types but the context and role are gonna matter as much as ever. Consensus boards make less sense each year.

Is it just me, or is anybody else having real significant doubts about the rest of the players after the top 4? I get that the guards are attractive, but shouldn’t we be more worried about them than we are confident?

@coachnatebdraft I even feel that way about the top 4, they all have legit concerns to go with the incandescent upside. Boozer’s position lock and lack of explosion, AJ being so poor off ball, Caleb’s range and bag, and DP’s health and shot diet. It’ll all come down to context imo

Follow me on this…ESPN’s subscriptions have been declining for years. Amazon’s is growing. Amazon Prime is becoming like a utility for the audiences the NBA and their ad partners care most about. That’s why there’s 180+ million prime subs in the U.S.
I'm not Richard@S_Beasley

@JonesOnTheNBA Prime subscribers are for shopping, not a couple of one off games, ffs. ESPN subscribers, follow me on this, subscribe for sports.

The target audience for basketball shoes are basketball players, which are usually young kids to people in their mid 20’s Idk if Nike knows this, but pricing your shoes for $150+ when your target demographic is the one that has the LEAST amount of money isn’t very smart
NBA Base@TheNBABase

Nike is reportedly struggling to sell basketball shoes because NBA players "aren’t as popular as they used to be," per @WindhorstESPN Financial experts claim the lack of player popularity is now directly hitting Nike’s revenue and stock price. (Via @hoopstonite )

Little guys can get away with anything vs. bigger guys in the NBA. officials have no idea how to officiate it. It's not that that's not a foul, it's that that's not a foul if Conley is 6-7
