@slackkejakke @gcraven10 I came here to mention this. It has been on GOLD in recent years though.
English

@gcraven10 See also: 2point4children. Watched by millions at its peak yet no one mentions it and I’ve never seen it on the repeat channels like GOLD

The odd thing about this sitcom is that it was so popular in the day but seems to have had no lasting cultural impact. Nobody ever quotes from it or remembers any particular episodes, it just sank without trace.

@OldRoberts953 I see we're now at the mangling Emily Dickinson stage of grief. Stand by for quotes lifted directly from 80s power ballads.

@shovingwords @KGBOO1 @StuartMaconie Definitely recommend. It's certainly not your typical book about The Beatles. It's written from a refreshingly different angle. It

@KGBOO1 @StuartMaconie Another Beatles book? Just finished One, Two, Three, Four which was a great read. This sounds something similar. Recommended then, yeah?

@Glinner @unbrokenwasused The logic doesn't work anyway. If it did, it would mean that someone who resembles Clint Eastwood IS Clint Eastwood.

@welshjaci @anne_hegerty If the vast majority of best quizzers are male, then the existence of a male quiz whizz is less noteworthy than that of a female one. Despite your desperate efforts to find it, there is nothing here that warrants that stupid word 'offensive'.
English

@anne_hegerty I know that. But you bill yourself on here as a quizzer, not female quizzer - and if there are only two of you (with VG), surely their comment is even more offensive?! I write about TV and am just aware of disparities of language.

@JosipIIicic Oh yeah, this hugely successful and popular comedian must wake up every day wishing he was you.

Marijuana, the 'peaceful drug' , strikes again bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@FugaziMedia @ClarkeMicah Persistent use of cannabis is indeed linked to paranoia and increased aggression. This ignorant and dismissive outlook, treating it as no more harmful than a cup of tea, is precisely what leads people down that perilous path. The harm it causes is obvious to objective observers.
English

Using cannabis along with other drugs, prescription or otherwise, also alcohol needs monitoring, most people that take meth have had serious drug or mental health problems for a long time, a person taking both meth and cannabis is far more likely to become aggressive due to the meth, a powerful stimulant that often triggers paranoia, irritability, and violent outbursts, while cannabis typically has a mellowing or sedative effect and is not linked to increased aggression. Long-term, meth causes severe damage to the brain, heart, teeth, and organs with high neurotoxicity and addiction risk, whereas cannabis primarily affects the lungs through smoke inhalation (irritation or respiratory issues), with far less systemic toxicity when other methods are used. Overall, meth is the much bigger concern in this mix.

@RickShag @foster_type The lines about 'I used to be cruel to my woman, I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved' were contributed by John though, so it's in keeping with the cliche.
English

@foster_type My favorite analysis is Getting Better where some DJ or whatever will be like, "Paul says 'it's getting better' and John says 'It can't get much worse', that's their dichotomy," and totally gloss over the fact that Paul cheerfully sings about physical and emotional domestic abuse
English

I get this joke but McCartney write Eleanor Rigby, For No One, She's Leaving Home, The Fool on the Hill, Two of Us, The Long and Winding Road, etc. He knew melancholy. My pet theory is he wrote more cheerful stuff when Lennon became a bigger downer.

I think about this tweet so often and i keep imagining what Paul's song would actually sound like why hasn't any Beatle bootleg singers have done this
English

@FugaziMedia @ClarkeMicah Any non-user of cannabis who has had to deal with users, particularly long-term users, knows first-hand the damage it causes. They also know that the opinions of those who do use it are compromised by that very use. The spectator sees more of the game in this case.
English

Pretty sure it's the "crystal meth" that is well known for Paranoia and aggressive behaviour, caused this, not the cannabis, I take prescription medical cannabis, its not going to affect you like this, but admittedly like anything, too much would affect you psychologically, but meth is dangerous.
