I bought my first Dragonlance book, Dragons of Autumn Twilight, because of that badass cover painting by Larry Elmore. Book covers don’t seem to have as much emphasis these days, so what is a book you remember buying simply because of the awesome cover art?

Sky Broadband said the best they can do for me is £40 a month (£4 increase). Been with them for 5 years. Go on a price comparison, they're doing a £23 a month offer for new customers only. So fucking stupid.

Playing 40K, the actual miniatures game, didn't give an accurate feeling of what Space Marines were meant to be. They are meant to be like a one-man army, like a demigod. They tower over humans. Their lifespan is in the centuries or millennia. Their religious zeal is like that of a living saint. Their Primarchs have life stories like an Icelandic saga. You request aid for your planet against a million Tyranids or whatever and they send you a single squad or company of Marines. In the game you might have 30 Space Marines fighting 45 Tyranids. And the Marines have strength 4 while a normal human is strength 3. Just doesn't get the scale right.

A while ago, I watched the infamous 47-minute video documenting the atrocities of October 7th — the one not made publicly available, to protect the privacy of the victims. The worst part of this video is not what it displays, but who is displaying it: the perpetrators themselves. Gleefully. Sadistically. Unabashedly. Most of the footage was filmed by Hamas terrorists on their GoPro bodycams, some also by ordinary Gazan civilians on their cellphones. Even the Nazis tried to cover up their atrocities, but Hamas brags about theirs for the entire world to see. The killers are euphoric throughout the massacre, and their relentless, ecstatic cries of "Allahu Akbar" (punctuated by the occasional "Kill the Jew!") are simply nauseating. Some images are seared into my memory forever. I will never forget the two boys in their underwear — one with his eye socket hanging out of his face — asking his brother whether he thinks they're going to die, while the Hamas monster who had just thrown a grenade in their saferoom helps himself to a drink from their fridge, taking a casual break from the slaughter. Neither will I ever forget the terrorists playing football with a severed head. Apparently even Hamas draws a line somewhere: they are not as proud of raping Jewish women as they are of murdering them. Highlander is an amazing film (forget the sequels ever happened). It's great. Very enjoyable. But let's be honest here. Christopher Lambert is a terrible actor. He was awful. The film was still good because nobody gave too much of a fuck back then as long as it was entertaining. So I'm personally pretty stoked for the remake with Henry Cavill because the man can act, he looks the part, and I'm guessing he's also a big fan of the original. I just really hope they don't go and Witcher it.
