So Wes Streeting after all that disruption has a big idea. Go back into the EU, accepting their excessive regulations, higher taxes and even slower growth. Does he want Leave voters to rule out voting for Labour?

Didn’t you stand down as a Brexit party candidate saying splitting the vote would be unforgivable. I thought at the time it was a sensible decision, the problem is you look consumed with bitterness.

Restore Britain will be standing a candidate in the Makerfield by-election. There is overwhelming demand from our local members to do so, and I entirely agree. Our campaign has already started, and we aim to win thousands and thousands of votes. More news very soon.

@GoodwinMJ It could work in your favour. If the white supremacists take enough votes to let Burnham in that is a clear example to everyone of what would happen in a GE. The white supremacists will never get elected but they could hand socialists the keys.

FLASHBACK: BBC and CNN are now in full panic after Israeli forces captured and interrogated Islamic Jihad spokesperson Tariq Salami. According to his interrogation, this is how the media game actually worked: - When rockets hit Gaza hospitals or schools → blame Israel. - When Hamas fires from inside those same buildings → Israel gets accused of “war crimes” for striking back. - Every explosion was pre-agreed to be blamed on Israel, even when Islamic Jihad rockets fell short (like the Al-Ma’madani hospital blast). This wasn’t journalism. This was coordinated disinformation between terrorist groups and major Western media outlets. The public was deliberately misled for years. Demand accountability. Share this. Don’t let them get away with it.

@LauraTrottMP You are wrong on this. I support Ukraine but agree no flags other then the Union Flag should be flown. If you allow Ukraine you can stop the Greens from flying the pally flag.

They are weaponizing the law to destroy Lorne Castle before his appeal. Ruining his life. When the shoplifter’s criminal history, and the CCTV and eye witness (who still haven’t been called for statements) are heard it will all be dropped and he will be found NOT guilty. But not before solicitor’s fees and his reputation is destroyed

Two men live in Zone 2 London. Both are around 30. Both sleep in a one-bed flat. But only one believes he has a future in the city. James was born in London. He went to university, got a degree, found a decent job and now works at a marketing firm near Old Street. He earns just under £60,000 a year. On paper, he is doing well. But every month James opens his payslip and watches a third of it vanish before he ever sees it. Income tax.National Insurance.Student loan. Then comes the rent. Nearly £2,000 a month for a small one-bed flat with mould around the windows and a landlord who only renews the tenancy six months at a time. Every evening James scrolls Rightmove looking at tiny flats he cannot afford in the city he grew up in. Even the cheapest one-beds near him now cost around £400,000. The deposit alone feels impossible despite earning more than most people in Britain. His parents bought their first home younger than he is now. James still does not know if he will ever own one. So he keeps renting.Keeps waiting. He watches friends delay children. People earning what used to be considered “good money” still checking every direct debit before payday. Now meet Shaheed. He arrived in Britain recently and was granted refugee status. He does not work. He lives in a one-bed flat in East London. His housing costs and council tax are largely covered through the welfare system. He qualifies for free prescriptions, dental treatment and eye tests. He does not spend his evenings worrying whether the next rent rise will wipe out what little he has left at the end of the month. And this is the part driving so much public anger. James works full time, pays a fortune in tax and still cannot see a long-term future in the city he was born in. Shaheed does not work, yet has more housing security than the man whose taxes help fund the system. That is how a city loses its young people, because they stop believing hard work leads anywhere. London has to become a city where the people who work, contribute and build lives here can realistically afford homes, raise families and feel secure again.

@_viktoh3 @IDerech 100% this. My wife & I did our 'gap' year in our late 40s. Before I left the UK I was the usual grumpy kids today eh. Really quickly staying in hostels, travelling on busses with youngsters from all around the world I saw that the future is safe in their hands.

Thoughts about Japan: I got stuck in Japan during the pandemic for 9 months without being able to fly back home. At the time, I was staying in a 6-floor hostel in Ryogoku, completely empty except for me. The staff slowly became my friends since I had no one else in Japan. After the third month of lockdown, my money ran out. They noticed the slow decay in my condition. I was eating half a meal a day. One day, out of nowhere, they called me down to the reception. There was a big box, surrounded by several smaller ones. The staff had told their friends and families about me, and together they gathered groceries and essentials to help me get through those difficult months. There were even handmade face masks someone had sewn because they were impossible to find in stores. I was so overwhelmed with gratitude that I broke down in tears. From that day on, more than friends, we became family. Japan and its people embraced me when I was at my lowest point. It healed something in me when I needed it the most. Thank you Japan.

@EmblenReal @adriancoll1 @CherylGrainger4 There's a limited number of GPs. That is the resource. There's an influx of migrants in certain areas that need to be catered for. That inevitably will lengthen waiting times. I do not live in such an area. I'm OK, Jack. I will speak up against uncontrolled migration.

Told yesterday of a couple in their 80’s who went to their GP surgery to make an appointment to change her tablets as she has cancer. She was told she couldn’t have an appointment for several weeks. They sat in shock, then a woman who couldn’t speak much English came in to book and was given one the following day. The gentleman went to complain and was told they get paid £184 to give an appointment to the other lady. Shocking. 2-tier system.

A tale of two ministers. This morning new Health Sec James Murray came to Downing Street, walked the length of the street, in full view of the cameras and taking shouts from the press in his stride. Minutes later, new Chief Sec to the Treasury Lucy Rigby has her ministerial car drive right up to the door of Downing Street, and scurries inside out of view of the media. A move that doesn’t scream confidence.

So I sat thinking about it, and then, by coincidence, the same question came up on GB News: who is the best person to run against Andy Burnham? For me, the answer is simple: Maggie Oliver. She is the former police officer who put her head above the parapet and spoke out when others stayed silent. She challenged the institutions and individuals who, in the eyes of many campaigners and survivors, failed vulnerable children and sought to suppress the truth. Thousands of young girls were subjected to horrific abuse across areas including Rochdale and Oldham. Multiple independent inquiries and criminal convictions have established that serious institutional failings allowed that abuse to continue for years. I attended a public meeting in Oldham and listened to victims, survivors, campaigners, and local residents. They spoke with dignity and clarity about how badly they had been failed. Their testimony was powerful and deeply moving. That is why a contest between Maggie Oliver and Andy Burnham would be so significant. It would give voters a clear choice between someone who has built her reputation by challenging institutional failures and a politician whose record continues to face intense scrutiny from critics. Ultimately, the public will decide who they trust to deliver accountability and ensure that the mistakes of the past are never repeated. @MaggieOliverUK you have an Army here ready to campaign for you.

I am absolutely devastated Men who claim to be women have more rights than actual women in Australia. It is women who are being discriminated against, not the men who claim to be us. But in a sense, nothing has changed: we will all wake up tomorrow & men will still not be women.

What a truly awful outcome. Australia should hang its head in shame.
Stephanie Bastiaan@stephbastiaan

The Full Federal Court has handed down its judgement in Giggle v Tickle. In a shock to women across the country - Sall Grover not only lost her appeal, the Court set aside the original finding of indirect discrimination and replaced it with direct discrimination, upholding Tickle's cross-appeal. The damages were doubled from $10,000 to $20,000. It’s important to note the Court expressly said it was only applying the Sex Discrimination Act as it is written- it is "not empowered to give effect to its own view" about whether that law is desirable. In 2013, @JuliaGillard’s @AustralianLabor government amended the Sex Discrimination Act- stripping the meaning out of "man" and "woman" and adding gender identity as a protected attribute to be pitted against biological sex. Today's outcome is proof of what those amendments have done: women are left with no meaningful rights or recognition under the Sex Discrimination Act - a bitter irony, given that protecting women was the very purpose of the Act under our commitment to CEDAW. In my opinion, this is a verdict on the law, not on Sall. The judges found that the law - as that government amended it - left them no other conclusion. These amendments must be repealed. The Sex Discrimination Act must once again recognise biological reality and protect women's right to single-sex spaces. What a dark and devastating day for Australian women and girls. #RepealTheSDA2013 #IStandWithSallGrover #GigglevTickle #Auspol

Things to consider about the Makerfield constituency: -Voted 65% to leave the EU -It’s culturally right wing (concerns about immigration) -Ethnically 97% white -68% Christian, 30% atheist, 1% Muslim -Not especially deprived or poor and evenly balanced between working and middle class demographic -Makerfield is in the Wigan District and Reform UK won every single seat that was up for grabs last week Andy Burnham will have to say he is anti-establishment, which he clearly isn’t and distance himself from the labour party which is impossible. Andy Burnham is popular in the Greater Manchester area, but he’s on the left of a party which has taken a drubbing for being on the left of the people of Manchester.
