I was born in #Brazil to Portuguese parents. When I came to #Canada, the school insisted that I be called “Joe” rather than “Jose Luis” because it sounded “too foreign”. In the last few years, I took back my identity, honouring my father & two uncles who I am named after. ✊🏾
