When my youngest daughter, Luna, was 6 years old, she jumped at the idea of driving an RV from Colorado to California to shelter a family who lost their home in the 2018 Camp Fire. In a lot of ways, I was just tagging along. Seven years later — and after sheltering more than 300 families across the United States — here we are. She’s grown up doing this good work… and along the way, I guess I grew up a lot too. See the latest chapter in our journey in the documentary film Humble River… it’s not over, premiering Oct. 15 in Denver. 🎟️ givebutter.com/EmergencyRV_Fi… #EmergencyRV #DenverEvents #Helene

Memorial Day is for remembering the men and women who gave their lives and their service so that the rest of us could live freely. It is a day to say the names of those we have lost. Today we say the name of Mr. Hughes. A WWII U.S. Army Veteran who carried the weight of his service quietly and with dignity for his entire life. When Hurricane Helene took his home in Yankeetown, Florida, EmergencyRV had the honor of showing up for him. A man who had already given everything for this country deserved to have someone show up when he needed it most. Mr. Hughes has since passed, but his memory is exactly what this day is for. He is the reason we prioritize veterans above all else. Rest easy, sir. Your service was not forgotten. Your life was not forgotten. You are remembered today and every day. #memorialday #emergencyrv #hopeafterdisaster

I’m fed up too. But not with X. Yes. The algorithm is rough right now. It usually works itself out though. I’m betting that will happen for all of us who focus on putting out original content and quality commentary. So I’m not leaving. Instead, I’m banking on Elon doing what’s right and working through the kinks. Here’s what I am fed up with: the constant high school like behavior out of adults. The cruelty, the gossip. The folks who seem to thrive on tearing others down. People who spread lies or troll people they disagree with. I don’t condemn standing up for yourself. I do it all the time. That’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about folks throwing others under the bus… often without provocation or reason. My feed is full of it every single day. Here’s my plan to combat it: shine a light on the good people I know and trust. Want to follow some truly amazing people? Here are a few of my favorites: ✨Shawn Hendrix - Shawn is a genuinely good human. Any time I’ve needed him, he’s taken my call. He worked miracles during Helene. And he fights for NC as if he were a native. ✨Matt & Erin Van Swol - They take more hits than maybe any other influencer couple out there - and they keep showing up anyway. Without them, Helene never would’ve been highlighted on a national stage. Matt didn’t disappear after the disaster. He continues to fight for WNC. And now he’s fighting to highlight the dangers of repeat criminals in our state. If that’s not enough, Matt bends over backwards to help others - with money, donations, and even advice. Just like Shawn, Matt & Erin have showed up every single time I’ve needed them. ✨The Appalachian Podcast - Billy and his ragtag band of libertarians are a bright spot on X. They share hillbilly culture and they make me laugh. It was their advice that helped me grow my account. They’re good guys who really care about what’s going on in the world. ✨Diary of Abandonment - Laura documents American history by exploring abandoned sites, she cleans the tombstones of veterans, documents the stories of the elderly, and fights to preserve our heritage in the most beautiful way. She has one of the purest souls on social media. ✨Stocking Mill Coffee - E has a special talent for ticking people off - but he’s funny. And he’s a good guy. He came running when WNC needed him and spent DAYS cutting down fallen trees so people could escape. These are just a few of them. Check them out and believe me when I say they’re good people worth the followings they’ve amassed. You’re not going to find much drama in their posts. Just good info. Drop your favorite accounts below! I’d love to check them out! ❤️

Listen closely, because I am not whispering this into the void. I am done. Bone-deep, marrow-scorched, soul-fucking done with the slow-motion slaughter unfolding on X. What was once billed as the last free-speech redoubt has metastasized into something far more sinister: a gleaming digital abattoir where the good, the serious, the heterodox minds who still dare to think in full sentences are systematically bled out for sport. The butchers? A coalition of liberal mass-report mobs armed with nothing but ideological venom and the platform’s own soulless AI enforcer…a pattern-matching automaton so devoid of nuance it might as well be lobotomized by committee. Add in weaponized DMCA lawfare, an algorithmic contempt for anything longer than a rage-bait tweet, and a festering antisemitic sewer that somehow never triggers the same automated wrath, and you have the perfect execution chamber for anyone who refuses to play the dopamine-chasing game. I watched it happen to me. And too many others. Months of work… essays, threads, research, audience…vaporized in 2.5 seconds because the mob found the right keywords and the machine lacked the courage, the intellect, or the integrity to ask why. This is not moderation. This is psychological warfare dressed in silicon. The ancient human circuitry for ostracism and status annihilation, supercharged by frictionless report buttons and trained on activist datasets, now runs the show. Conservatives, classical liberals, truth-tellers… anyone who refuses the script…get disappeared while bots, trolls, and medieval Jew-haters flood the replies with blood libels that somehow slip the noose. Meanwhile the rage-bait merchants and click-farming grifters chase impressions like junkies chasing the next hit, lying, baiting, manufacturing synthetic outrage because that is what the algorithm rewards. I wrote the piece you are about to read in a white-hot fury that has not cooled. It is not a polite complaint. It is a forensic autopsy of a platform that betrayed its founding promise with lethal precision. And it is my public declaration of exile. Because I have found my people on Substack. Not perfect…nothing is…but here depth is not punished as inefficiency, long-form thought is not throttled as spam, and serious conversation can still breathe without the constant shadow of the blade. X can keep its gladiatorial arena and its baying mob. I am building elsewhere. Read what follows if you still believe ideas matter more than impressions. If you are sickened by the same daily executions. If you, too, are done watching good people get erased while the platform that once promised liberation becomes their eager executioner. The digital guillotine is real. And it is hungry. I'll check in from time to time but you know where to find me. I can no longer stand to be here as I once was. This place has devolved into nothing but bullshit and the people who could do something about it... Refuse. So good fucking riddance. If you want to know what I'm up to you know where to find me. I have had enough of this place and I'm drawing my line in the sand. If I post anything at all it'll be introductions to my work on substack. Nothing more and nothing less. This has become a shitshow and I am checking the fuck out. open.substack.com/pub/lhgrey78/p…

Today our friends at I-95 Toyota rallied a convoy of volunteers (Kevin, Mark, Tanya and Paul) and drove from Brunswick to Ocala and back to Kingsland. Those RVs will be stocked, prepped, and gifted to five wildfire families as a place to call home while they rebuild. Incredible people helping people. Neighbors showing up for neighbors. We are so grateful for every single one of them. #emergencyrv #hopeafterdisaster

Amber lost her spouse near Christmas and then the Georgia wildfires took her home. She is a medical professional caring for others and raising a 12 year old son through all of it. Things have been tough for them, but today they have an EmergencyRV and a safe place to rebuild. #EmergencyRV #hopeafterdisaster

These people at @EmergencyRv are always getting a home for people that’s gone through fires, hurricanes, floods and tornadoes. If you have an RV that’s been gently used how about donating it this organization. Thank you in advance.

On April 23rd an EF-4 tornado tore through Enid, Oklahoma injuring 10 people and destroying 40 homes. Matthew and Valerie Jantz were among those who lost everything. Minutes before impact Valerie grabbed their dogs and they took shelter in their neighbor's storm cellar. Matt is an EMT and first responder and he went out helping survivors in nearby areas.  We delivered this RV to Matt and Valerie because first responders give everything to protect others and EmergencyRV gives everything to protect them. EmergencyRV prioritizes first responders for RV housing because they are essential to disaster response, and many must stay on duty even when they’ve lost their own homes. #tornado #firstresponders #emergencyrv

William Watts and his sister Sherry Houston fought with everything they had to save their family homes from the Georgia wildfires. The flames won. With 10 family members and nowhere to go, they were given a hotel room for one week. When that week ended, so did their options. Last week, EmergencyRV provided them with 2 RVs. William, Sherry, and their entire family now have a safe place to live while they recover. That is what this mission is about. We believe that no one should face disaster alone and we put everything we have behind that belief. • If you lost your home to a natural disaster and need shelter: emergencyrv.org/contact • To donate your RV (good working order) for the full appraised value, tax-deductible: emergencyrv.org/take-action • To volunteer with us: emergencyrv.org/volunteer • To support our work sheltering disaster impacted families with a tax-deductible donation: givebutter.com/emergencyrvs-g… #disaster #nonprofit #emergencyRV #georgia
