Spencer is a former U.S. Army combat veteran. In the early morning hours of July 4th, he and his wife climbed onto their roof of their house with their children as floodwaters rose. Their home near the Guadalupe River in Kerr County, Texas was a total loss.
When Spencer submitted an @EmergencyRV survivor intake form and we saw he was a combat veteran, he went straight to the top of our list.
When I called to tell him we would shelter his family, he was choking back tears. That night, he had planned a hard conversation with his wife—they were running low on money and about to lose the hotel room they’d been living in since the flood. He didn’t know what they were going to do.
This past weekend, thanks to our donors and volunteers, we delivered and gifted Spencer’s family an RV we drove from Florida to Texas.
