🇩🇰🇪🇺 Denmark takes over the EU Council Presidency today! @eu2025dk priorities include security and competitiveness — but I’ll be watching their digital agenda closely. In particular: protecting children online. 🧒 The ongoing negotiations on the CSAM Directive will be a key moment as well as further discussion on the EU digital majority. This is an issue I care deeply about — and I hope Denmark’s leadership brings courage, clarity, and compassion. Wishing the 🇩🇰 Presidency good luck for the next six months. @RenewEurope @Renew_Press

MEP Caterina Chinnici @CaterinaChinnic Co-Chair of @Childmanifesto is in Manila this week on a field mission in cooperation with @IJM Focus on the online sexual exploitation of children in the Philippines and the cooperation with EU legislators and law enforcement.

YOUTUBE BREACHES POLICIES TO PROTECT CHILDREN ONLINE 👧👦💻 Yesterday, I attended the @Childmanifesto meeting, where representatives from the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) presented a deeply concerning report on how YouTube’s algorithm promotes harmful content to teenage girls in the 🇪🇺. ❓They created a fictional profile of a 13-year-old girl searching for information on eating disorders and analyzed the platform’s recommendations. The findings are alarming: ❗️YouTube is failing to remove harmful content – nearly 3 out of 4 recommended videos featured eating disorders or extreme weight loss content. ❗️YouTube is failing to display “crisis resource panels” designed to support at-risk individuals – they appeared in only 2 out of 27 EU countries. ❗️YouTube appears to disregard its own commitments under the #DSA risk assessment to protect minors from harmful content. 👉 These findings deeply trouble me. Ensuring children’s safety online is a cause close to my heart, and it is unacceptable that digital platforms continue to expose young people to harmful and dangerous content. 👉 Mental health is one of the most urgent challenges facing children and young people today. We need strong and effective measures to protect them. 👉 Digital platforms must be held accountable under the #DSA legislation, and the EU must ensure that the content available to European citizens online is safe.
