@RalphZellers @Ststansberry @doctor2pi @Duncannedd @BarnellNicole @tom_karnes I think gamification really helps students stay on-task and engaged! Making learning fun is super important at any age. You can also use gameification techniques for assessments, such as Kahoot.
English

@Ststansberry @doctor2pi @Duncannedd @BarnellNicole @tom_karnes A4) As an elementary educator I will use technology and tech strategies like gamification of lessons in order to make learning fun and engaging for younger developmental stages. Using,Lexia, Prodigy, etc. can make learning seem like a game. #CSUBTED #CSUBEDTE4200 @Duncannedd

Hi All,
This has been a great chat! Let's finish strong with question #4 #CSUBTED and #EDTE4200! @Ststansberry @doctor2pi @duncannedd @BarnellNicole @tom_karnes

English

@lawsonp2024 @Ststansberry @doctor2pi @Duncannedd @BarnellNicole @tom_karnes Pamela, sharing their presentations on PowerPoint is a great way for students to share their projects while also showing individuality! Google Slides is a great alternative for group presentations. There are also tons of presentation sites like Canva.
English

@Ststansberry @doctor2pi @Duncannedd @BarnellNicole @tom_karnes A4) While working with young students they like to express themselves and show their artwork with peers. So I will have the students work on an in-class project on PowerPoint so they can share ideas, showcase their work, and present it to the class.

English

@Ststansberry @doctor2pi @Duncannedd @BarnellNicole @tom_karnes A4) I’ll use technology at the elementary level to enhance students learning with sites like Kahoot, EdPuzzle, & Khan Academy, while also increasing my classroom management with sites like ClassDojo #CSUBTED #edte4200 @Duncannedd
English

@JHrnandzVilla @tom_karnes @Duncannedd Technological literacy is a big issue. I know my local library offers free courses on basic computer skills and there’s a few computers there available for public use.
English

@tom_karnes A3) I believe that computer cafes should be brought back in order for the community to become knowledgeable on how to properly use technology. The challenges that most low socioeconomic face is the funds to create change to their communities. #CSUBTED #CSUBEDTE4200 @Duncannedd
English

Happy Leap Day!
Here's the next question. Make sure you include A3) before your response. Don't forget to tag #CSUBTED , #CSUBEDTE4200, and your EDTE 4200 professor.

English

@Salto_Leydi @tom_karnes @Ststansberry Great idea! Partnering with these places is much less expensive than hand outing technology and hotspots and eliminates the risk of students not being technology back. Schools can also recommend places that already have tons of resources like public libraries.
English

@tom_karnes Partnering with local restaurants and libraries can be helpful for those students who do not have a place to study or have access to internet at home. Some students also do not have the proper electronics at home. #csubedte4200 @Ststansberry
English

@mportillo7673 @doctor2pi Marina, I like that in addition to using Google Translate as a writing tool, ELLs can also use the microphone button to say unfamiliar words. Some languages also offer pronunciations of the translations, as well as the ability to copy or search Google for the translations.
English

@doctor2pi A2) I believe Google Translate is a great tool that can benefit English Language Learners! If there are any words they cannot comprehend a quick search could take that confusion away in a flash! #CSUBTED #EDTE4200 @doctor2pi
English

@KierstenSCSUB @doctor2pi I've never heard of FlipGrid. I will have to add that to my list of resources! Thank you for the suggestion.
English

@doctor2pi A2) One app I learned could help benefit EL learners could be FlipGrid. It allows students to interact with each other through video and be able to comment on each others responses. It also benefits teachers to see the EL students progress.
English

@doctor2pi @Duncannedd A2) Grammarly can help ELLs. It easily be used as a website or an extension. Grammarly helps with spelling and different grammar conventions. They also explain why they are suggesting changes (redundancy, improper tense, etc.).
@Duncannedd

English

@tom_karnes A3) Barriers to tech include no: devices, wifi, & info about tech. We can help through devices & hotspots at school (potentially sent home), remind community members of public resources (ex: libraries), & teach students technological literacy #CSUBEDTE4200 #CSUBTED @Duncannedd

@RaquelVal_ @Duncannedd @csubted @CSUBakersfield @BarnellNicole @tom_karnes @Ststansberry @doctor2pi @jse_CSUB Nice to meet you Raquel! I’m also in my post baccalaureate program prepping for the multiple subject program. I was a preschool teacher from 2014-2020. In 2021-2022 I was bumped up to student support for 4th grade. Definitely different, but still rewarding!

English

@ellyyssssaa @BarnellNicole Elyssa, great idea! Websites like ClassDojo and their point system would be a good tool for this.
English

@BarnellNicole A1)I believe I can use technology in the classroom to help build and enhance relationships by using it to praise the students without actually saying it because the students look for that acknowledgment especially when they think you can’t see#CSUBTED #csubedte4200 @BarnellNicole

Good evening! Here is the first question in the CSUB EDTE4200 Spring 2024 Slow Chat. Make sure you include A1) before your response. Don't forget to tag #CSUBTED, #CSUBEDTE4200, and your EDTE 4200 professor.

English

@dobbyysock @BarnellNicole @doctor2pi Madison, great ideas! I also like that tech allows students to send peers (and teachers) messages. That takes off some stress and can lead to getting to know how we learn and build relationships better.
English

@BarnellNicole @doctor2pi A1) Technology can be used in the classroom to establish communication between teacher/students/parents in certain applications like ClassDojo. Interactive learning games that reinforce reading and math can help students stay ready and engaged. #CSUBTED #csubedte4200 @doctor2pi
English

@BarnellNicole A1) Technology can be used to foster relationships w/ students by allowing students to send messages to you & other students, collaborate on assignments, work together to build a positive classroom environment, & help make learning fun! #csubedte #csubedte4200 @Duncannedd

This is my first tweet for #CSUBEDTE4200. I've already learned so much about how to use technology in the classroom and found some great resources. At first I was nervous since I didn't grow up with technology in the classroom. Now I'm excited to see what I can do next! #csubted
