Hi, my Paper with @Aoto_Lab is Published! Very excited to share our work in which we identify ventral subiculum (a very cool but understudied region of ventral hippocampus that regulates reward and stress) as a sexually... cell.com/cell-reports/f… (1/4)

@CaitlinPBailey For my current F32, I was emailed beginning of June 2023 that it has been selected for funding, but Im told I won’t get the NOA until the end of the month.

@EmmaEBoxer Do you recall how many months passed between your grant going into "pending" status in eRA and receiving your NoA? Asking for a friend 🙃

My F31 Timeline: Started grad school: Aug 2016 1st: Dec 2018 (29th%) Resub: Aug 2019 (23rd%) 3rd: April 2020 (16th%) NOA: Aug 2021 … It takes a lot of time to write and prepare these grants. Good training, but be prepared to wait and to learn just how scarce F31 funding is.

@CaitlinPBailey For my F31, it was funded at the end of the fiscal cycle bc they had leftover money, so it was a long wait from getting my score until NOA, but it was no wait from receiving my PO’s email notifying of award, until NOA.

@NeuroscienceNew This is correlation not causation and should be discussed with that terminology…. This study does not show that “BMI impacts” but that BMI is ‘associated’ with certain cognitive patterns

Obesity’s Heavy Toll: Preteens With Excess BMI Show Troubling Changes in Brain Function, Structure, and Cognition A large national study finds that preteens with excess weight show significant differences in cognitive performance, brain structures, and brain circuitry when compared to those with normal body-mass index. Although the study cannot establish causation, it suggests a significant association between BMI and brain measures, raising concerns about tracking adolescent brain health and intervening through lifestyle modifications. neurosciencenews.com/bmi-teen-neuro…

Our paper is out! Ventral subiculum output to NAc exhibits a D2R bias and has distinct synaptic properties from vCA1 output. Cocaine withdrawal potentiates vSUB-D2R synapses.

Emma Boxer's (@EmmaEBoxer) and JungMin Kim's (@jungminKimwipes) study investigating the unique synapse-specific properties of ventral subiculum output to D1R and D2R MSNs in dorsal NAc medial shell is out now in @SfNJournals! jneurosci.org/content/43/7/1…

@doc_becca Sick folks maybe too sick to be on twitter to answer polls!! I have seen 30% positivity rate (4 out of 11) but all were people who had not had Covid in the last 5ish months. All recently boosted though

@jessie_muir @BagotLab @Eiyer @RCBagot ...and thus was a bit surprised to not see sex diff in the vSUB-NAc output circuit, but we reasoned that there could still be distinct utilization of the circuit during behavior- so I am very glad to see your preprint confirming this, at least for the vHIPP-NAc circuit!
