I lost my father to the Amin War before my first birthday so I never really got to know him. But in his place, God left me with a warrior in the form of my mother.
She was a nurse who worked long shifts, raising me as an only child in a house that was always full of love. Even when things were tough, she shielded and protected me from knowing how tough times were. She taught me that you make do with what you have. You stretch. You survive. You keep moving.
To this day, I speak to her every other day and carry her example with me everyday. One of my greatest hope is that my children will experience even a fraction of the strength, sacrifice and love that she has given me.
I am eternally grateful for her in my life and wish a Happy Mothers’ day to all doing the much needed job that often goes thankless.
Today, I am grateful for her in my life and I celebrate her. And to all mothers quietly carrying families, shaping futures, and loving through sacrifice, Happy Mother’s Day.
@royalarmarocuk A very unhappy customer on my first attempt to travel with Royal Air Maroc, calling you during the weekend was impossible - I am being tossed from Ghana office to International office back to the agent - where should I go?
I am fascinated by language and have over the years loved tracing Ueglish - English phrases directly translated from Ugandan languages - some of my favourites - Me as me….. But why? And you do what? What is yours?
@ugpolice some of these selfish drivers that keep us on the northernbypass for 2 hours joining the Express lane when they are going to Masaka should be fined properly.
South Africa Visa
Recently,
one of my sons said, dad for any family member in this household to travel abroad you look after bills plus we don’t need visas
He adds, you who pays the bills needs visas for so many countries almost all the time.
He adds, wastes a lot of your time, money and therefore, limits business growth and he adds, get a passport from another country for flexibility.
He adds, dad I know even the thought of it kills you but it’s something you have to take seriously.
He had research about the possible countries and what I would need to do for that happen.
While applying for South African visa today morning, his words started ringing in my head and will ring for a while.
My passport will be held for the next 7days, I can’t go and push for business outside uganda for the next 7days.
A South African businessman arrives at our airport and gets a visa, me, an Ugandan businessman, my hands are tired and yet am supposed to make uganda compete with South Africa.
I have always said, no country can succeed without a clear external business strategy and that business strategy can only be achieved by business mind.
Some one has just called me asking for my services as MC for his event, after sharing my fees, he said I should reduce it by almost half bse the people I’m to host are big shots so I’ll get more business, he doesn’t know almost all the people he’s talking about have me on a retainer as host of their events .. in other words he wants to give me exposure 😂 I don’t even remember the last time I was approached in this way.
Dubai Chambers has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Uganda Chamber of Commerce and Industry to enhance cooperation between the business communities in Uganda and Dubai.
The agreement was signed during a bilateral business forum in Kampala arranged by Dubai International Chamber, one of the three chambers operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers.
Under the terms of the MoU, the two parties will work together to promote collaboration between companies from Dubai and Uganda, as well as organise trade missions, conferences, and business events. The agreement also encompasses the sharing of knowledge and expertise to unlock mutual benefits, consulting on business policies, and exploring bilateral investment opportunities.
The ‘Doing Business with Uganda’ business forum took place during the first leg of the chamber’s trade mission to Uganda and Tanzania. The event was organised with the support of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Kampala, the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in the UAE, the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Uganda Investment Authority, and the Private Sector Foundation Uganda.
Non-oil trade between Uganda and Dubai reached a value of US$ 1.2 billion in 2023, according to Dubai Customs data. A total of 148 Ugandan businesses were registered as active members of Dubai Chamber of Commerce as of the end of September 2024, 60 of which joined during the first nine months of the year.
During the forum, Dubai Chambers delivered a comprehensive presentation on Dubai’s economic landscape, highlighting the emirate’s competitive advantages and the exciting opportunities available for businesses and investors from Uganda.
Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister of Uganda Rt Hon. @R_Nabbanja, expressed her delight in the strong working relations between the two countries and highlighted the government’s efforts to attract investors through such partnerships.
“The agreement signed between Dubai Chambers and the Uganda Chamber of Commerce and Industry aims to promote and protect investments. I believe this forum will effectively achieve its primary objective of facilitating dialogue between the Ugandan and UAE governments, as well as the business community, while creating opportunities to foster new investments and business partnerships for the mutual benefit of both sister countries.”
The companies in the delegation from Dubai represented sectors including construction and building materials, engineering, food and beverages, storage and retail, oil and gas, electrical appliances, healthcare, energy, the automotive sector, agritech, and information technology.@GovUganda
My heart is filled with extreme joy and happiness.
Today, I bought back the land and banana plantation that was sold while educating me.
Land can really appreciate in value!

It’s 300 Today!
Today marks a significant milestone as I celebrate completing 300 walks since I launched the Walk. Talk. Connect. initiative on June 2, 2023.
This journey has been a wonderful opportunity to connect with new individuals, strengthen existing friendships, and gain insightful knowledge during our walks. I am truly thankful for the diverse experiences I've had, walking alongside individuals, pairs, and teams. I’m grateful that recently the Walk. Talk. Connect. concept was included as part of an international convening and I had the opportunity to lead that walk.
I appreciate how the Walk. Talk. Connect. community has formed a supportive network, working together on various initiatives, including a leaders’ summit this past June.
I owe a special thanks to my band of brothers: @MosesRutahigwa@wekesa_amos and @Akeda4 - whose encouragement has been a tremendous support throughout this journey. Your backing means so much to me.
I am also grateful to @TwikirizeRonald for his assistance with the digital documentation of the walks, to @Treasurelayola for keeping a meticulously record of all the people I walk with, and to Ednah and @DesignCarpenter for compiling the walk stories into book volumes. Your contributions are deeply appreciated.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who reads, likes, and shares the walk stories on social media. Your engagement has been vital in sustaining this movement.
I remain thankful to the very first individuals who signed up for the walks; you took that initial leap of faith! Look at how far this has come!
