i feel like nobody knows how to read this movie. the basic idea is we spend the whole movie getting madder and madder at the maya for what they did to this guy and his family. then suddenly at the end the spanish show up and we realize they're about to do the same exact shit on a much greater scale. it's an anti-colonialism movie from a very non-woke perspective, which people think is a contradiction for some reason

Prologue sets the stage too with compelling backstory of the Andii/Edur betrayal.

@marenthro @falyrionient If you liked getting tossed into the deep end in the other books you'll like this. It just happens right around the time that people were feeling comfortable with the shape of the world in the first 4, so there's some trepidation about doing it all again from some folks.

@marenthro @falyrionient It's a complete switch up from House of Chains. The cast is almost completely new and it takes place on a separate continent. It's a fan favorite in the series though, so just go with it.

@WebWrld8 @falyrionient No, I can see it. The complete change of location and cast, with only one returning character that readers will know, could definitely be disorienting. Udinaas isn't a very interesting POV character at the beginning either (though he became one of my favorites by the end)
