The current physical activity guidelines are too low. I've been saying this for a while. And a new study confirms it. Meeting the standard 150 minutes/week was associated with only a modest ~8–9% lower cardiovascular risk. The biggest protection occurred at roughly 560–610 minutes/week, about 3–4× higher, where cardiovascular risk was 30% lower. We need to distinguish between the minimal activity volume required for basic protection, and the substantially higher volumes required for optimal resilience.

@HankFrank @mackinprof @Brady_H Yall are just afraid to admit lifting weights is mentally hard. Marathon running is just time management and commitment. Which is the same as weight lifting.

Was the 08 recession worse than now ? I was a kid then so I’m asking adults

Strength training is incredibly important. But the reality is it’s nowhere near as “hard” to do as endurance sports. Lumber around the gym. Pick up something heavy. Put it down again. Rest for 3 minutes. Repeat. Leisurely if you ask me.

I love this trick from baby boomers. Make things insanely unaffordable and do not raise workers’ wages. Then, complain that young people spend too much money on frivolous activities like eating lunch.

@mackinprof @Brady_H I gave the correct comparison Squat heavy weight to failure on 4-5 sets ~~ Mile 18 of a marathon

Hilarious “optimism” considering the traits currently being selected (ADHD, unintelligence, obesity, etc) - the notion that we are selecting for pro-human or pro-romance traits is pretty ridiculous. It’s abundantly clear to anyone paying attention that’s not the case.

TFR decline is a good thing. The selection out of the gene pool of people who do not sincerely love the opposite gender and desire children is a good thing. Falling populations are a good thing.
