Join us in Manchester on Saturday to protest the puberty blockers trial! Let's not intentionally harm 226 children in order to gain zero useful knowledge about the safety and efficacy of these dangerous, experimental drugs. We know that affirmation is at best ineffective and is dangerous, leaving comorbidities unexamined and locking children into a pathway that results in serious health issues requiring lifelong medical care. We know that children are incapable of consenting to such (to them) far-future consequences. Puberty blockers have been used on children as a major step in affirmation to avoid competent psychological examination. They have been sold as a panacea for children who experience distress while approaching puberty (who here didn't?). Children who feel they don't fit in. Children who are bullied. Children who are survivors of abuse. Children with autism. Children who have been confused about gender by thoughtless and deluded adults. Children who will likely grow up to be homosexual. Children who will jump at any vacant promise to relieve their torment as if by magic. And children who just want to seem more quirky and interesting. Puberty blockers don't give children time to think, they give the medical establishment license to abandon children, to medicalise their problems and to profit from it. They sell minors the dangerous lie that it's possible to change sex or that if they take these dangerous drugs *right now* (quick!!! before it's too late!!!) their bodies will be indistinguishable in the future from the opposite sex. This is madness. This is dangerous. This is horrifically unethical. This is storing up a whole range of problems for the future by mortgaging these children's distress. This trial is highly unethical. Because of its very design, it can achieve no worthwhile results. And it panders to the idea that real, complex problems during childhood can be ignored away by parents, the medical establishment and society, through the doling out of pills which will not deliver what they promise. Come along! I'll see you there! Please share to as wide an audience as you can. #StopTheTrial
