Who I am and What End State Debrief is: Experienced military aviator. Conservative. Fact-first. I’ve seen what bad judgment and false certainty cost. End State Debrief brings facts, context, and levity to serious issues—so we can argue honestly, think clearly, and stop talking past each other.

We can call shenanigans here. When he announced his resignation on X, it was already too much. Those who grow up in the special forces and intelligence community know what a silent professional means. They also know sacrifice. If he didn't agree with the administration, he could have expressed his concerns and left at any time. He chose the right moment that was most convenient for him to make a political statement, not a professional one. It's ridiculous.

Joe Kent on resignation: “I ever was in a position of responsibility, I would never… send young men or women on to die on a foreign battlefield.” Joe Kent was Director of Counterterrorism. He took a job that REQUIRED this, knowingly.

2/ Israeli media reported that Hezbollah conducted a long-range missile attack targeting southern Israel, marking the group’s longest-range attack since the group was founded. The attack triggered sirens in Ashkelon and several areas near the Gaza Strip, which is located approximately 200 kilometers from the Israel-Lebanon border. Hezbollah has several long-range missiles, including the Fateh-110, Scud, and Zelzal-2, that it could have used in this attack.

NEW: Israeli strikes on Iranian internal security forces, including decapitation strikes, have likely caused shock and confusion within the Iranian internal security apparatus and disrupted internal security operations to some degree. It remains impossible to assess based on the available open-source evidence to what degree internal security operations have been disrupted. Other Key Takeaways ⬇️🧵(1/3) The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) struck vessels at a major Caspian Sea port in northern Iran that Iran uses to conduct trade with Russia. The IDF targeted “dozens” of vessels, including the Artesh Navy Moudge-class frigate IRIS Deylaman, at the 4th Artesh Naval District Headquarters at Bandar Anzali Port, Gilan Province, on March 18. The IDF’s March 18 airstrikes on Bandar Anzali follow reports that Russia is providing Iran with Russian-produced and possibly modified Shahed drones. Israeli strikes on Iranian internal security forces, including decapitation strikes, have likely caused shock and confusion within the Iranian internal security apparatus and disrupted internal security operations. The combined force has continued to strike Iranian ballistic missile infrastructure and air capabilities to degrade Iran’s ability to conduct retaliatory attacks and maintain air superiority over parts of Iran. Israeli Army Radio, citing the IDF, reported on March 19 that the combined force has destroyed around 85 percent of Iran’s surface-to-air missiles. Iran continued to conduct drone and missile attacks targeting the Gulf states and Gulf energy infrastructure, including the Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar, on March 18 and 19. US President Donald Trump threatened on March 18 to “blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field” if Iran launches another drone or missile attack targeting Qatar following Iran’s missile attacks targeting the Ras Laffan Industrial City.

NEW: The US-Israeli combined force continued to strike naval, military, and internal security sites across Iran on March 18 and 19. The IDF reported that it struck targets in northern Iran for the first time in the war. (1/2) The combined force targeted the 4th Artesh Naval District Headquarters along the Caspian Sea coast in Gilan Province, northern Iran. The combined force also targeted an Iranian Mi-17 helicopter at the Sanandaj Airport in Kurdistan Province, the US-sanctioned Shiraz Electronics Industries in Fars Province, the Genu Mountain Missile Base in Hormozgan Province, and an unspecified Basij checkpoint in western Iran. Iran continued to attack Israel with ballistic missiles containing cluster munition warheads. Iranian cluster munitions impacted in southern and central Israel, including in Neta and Moshav Adanim. An Iranian missile also impacted in Beit Awa, the West Bank, killing four individuals. Iran also continued to target energy infrastructure in the Gulf states. Iranian ballistic missiles struck LNG facilities at the Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar. Iranian drones also struck the Al Ahmadi and Mina Abdullah refineries in Kuwait, and the Samref refinery in Saudi Arabia. Hezbollah conducted a long-range missile attack targeting southern Israel, marking the group’s longest-range attack since the group was founded in 1982. The attack triggered sirens in Ashkelon and several areas near the Gaza Strip. The missiles impacted open areas in southern Israel.

@nosoup4knowles All the socialist stuff he said in that Sunday special made me lose a lot of confidence in him. I was never really interested in watching his show on Fox at the time, but that pretty much locked it in for me.

Ok, let's talk statistics since we're talking about polls. People can believe whatever they want. But we're not going to engage in a full-scale ground war. Why? Because there are roughly 93 million people in the Islamic Republic. Around 60 million people are secular or secular-adjacent. They're under the rule but not ideologically tied to the Islamic Republic. 30 million are ideologically tied to the Islamic Republic and share its theological stance. We see how crazy the IRGC, Basij, and Islamic Republic leaders are. They will use those 30 million to suicide bomb, banzai charge, whatever they need to do. We know this. We're not going to engage in that. We're going to secure our interests and back the 60% of the population who don't like Islamic Republic control, and help them if they choose to overthrow it. They'll be the boots on the ground.
Reuters@Reuters

Some 65% of Americans believe President Trump will order troops into a large-scale ground war in Iran but only 7% support the idea, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll. Reuters politics editor Scott Malone explains.

@WSJ Or just avoid ultraprocessed food altogether. We love chips and doughnuts, and they can be made without the processing. Change the incentive structure, get the food you want without the health problems you don't need.

People who eat around nine servings a day of ultraprocessed foods like chips and doughnuts have about a 67% higher risk of heart attacks, strokes and dying from heart disease compared with those who eat about one serving a day, according to a new study. 🔗 on.wsj.com/3PgXHeg

@Reuters Good. There's a global rivalry and threat from China, not because of the CCP itself, but because they subvert laws, copy IP, and break established trade doctrines for their own benefit.

There are approximately 20 million college-aged people in the U.S. 200 billion / 20 million = 10,000 per person. In 2026, the average total cost for a 4-year public degree is roughly 124,000. That 10,000 covers exactly 8% of a degree. If you spent the full 200 billion to fully fund as many people as possible, you would cover 1.6 million students. That is 8% of one single generation of students. Learn math.
Ro Khanna@RoKhanna

$200 billion would pay for free college for every American, $10 day childcare, 1000 new trade schools, the 40% federal share of special needs education and a lot more. What are we even doing here? MAGA is now Iran first?

Being in a committed relationship doesn’t mean you’re “missing out.” It means you already have the thing everyone is chasing at parties, bars, dating apps, etc.
