PUBLIC NOTICE ⚠️ UETCL informs the public that a suspected vandal was electrocuted while attempting to climb a transmission tower on the Owen Falls–Lugazi Transmission Line in Lugazi. The individual is currently suspended on the tower as arrangements are being made for a technical team to safely retrieve the body. The matter has been handed over to the @PoliceUg for further investigation. UETCL strongly warns the public against vandalising or attempting to access electricity transmission infrastructure. High-voltage installations carry dangerous currents and can result in serious injury or death. We urge the general public to be vigilant and report suspected vandals to the nearest police station. Vandalism not only interrupts the power supply but is also a danger to human life. MANAGEMENT. @NankabirwaRS @uetcl_ceo

The tanners’ meeting focused on reviewing a position paper to be presented to the Permanent Secretary @mofpedU . The discussion centered on sector alignment and forward planning for 2026. Key priorities included; ✅ Improving standards and quality of raw materials to enhance value in finished leather ✅ Expanding market access locally and internationally ✅Strengthening local content under the Buy Uganda Build Uganda #BUBU framework. The meeting also emphasized the need for sector compartmentalization, comprehensive research to assess the potential and demand for finished leather, addressing the impact of synthetic leather, and increasing sector visibility through publications such as Uganda Manufacturers Association Times. A coordinated, research-driven, and market-focused approach remains key to building a competitive and value-driven leather sector. #ManufacturersUg

#EnforcementAlerts The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (@lgrb_uganda) regional team in Gulu has cracked down on an illegal gaming operator and manufacturer in Makor Nyacara Ward, Nebbi District. With the support of @PoliceUg, a search led to the arrest of Zhou Juhua, a Chinese national, who was found in possession of 7 fish tables, 26 slot machines, 5 TV screens, over 120 motherboards, and assorted gaming spare parts. @lgrb_uganda Investigations further revealed that Zhou Juhua had been operating under the alias Mr. Lin, falsely presenting himself as a licensed manufacturer. We commend the Makor community for whistleblowing, and appreciate the support of the local authorities, the RPC, Regional CID, DPC & police officers in Nebbi for their collaboration in this enforcement action. #OperationMashineHaramu #ResponsibleGamingUg

TRIBUTE: The creator of Mobile Money has passed on!!! That’s what the headline should be reading today. Most people who hear this story are always skeptical but for those of us who were there, it’s as true a truth could ever be. Because of the naivety of youth and his trusting nature, Richard Obore, aka Richie K as we fondly called him would only see his idea come to life in the news. I will never forget the first day I met Richie K in early 1990. It was my first day in Nakasero PS as a fresh villager from Mbarara and him and William Nzarubara were the only kids in the whole school kind enough to welcome me and show me around the place, including teaching me how monkey bars was played. We later found ourselves together at MUK doing Computer Science and eventually did life together. In fact, on any random Saturday, if you looked for me, 95% chances were that I would be with Richie K at our “Kafunda” with the breakfast boyz. Always the life of the party, the guy whose laughter and very vocal arguments could be heard from a mile away. Always there. Always ready to hold your hand. Always willing to give you the last 50K he had if it was going to be more useful to you than him. Truly one of the most brilliant and yet selfless people I’ve ever known. And just like that, he’s gone. That’s two major hits for me in less than a month. It’s tough, not sure I can take too many more. Rest well bro. We’ll meet again.
