I am proud to present this video, which highlights the transformative work I led during my 2 years and 4 months as the leader of the Somali Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, from August 9, 2022, to January 5, 2025. During this time, we laid the foundation for a lasting legacy, elevating the Ministry to a global standard, on par with its counterparts around the world. This achievement reflects our collective dedication to fostering sustainable progress and strengthening Somalia’s resilience in the face of climate challenges.

I am excited to share that I have been selected to represent #Somalia at @CMARN_network 2024! Out of over 100 applicants, I will be conducting research focused on #Climate_Security_n_Gender issues in newly liberated areas of Somalia, in collaboration with @MMUST_Kenya.

When disasters strike, they unleash enormous devastation on individuals, societies & economies.   Today, disasters are often supercharged by the climate crisis, increasing their frequency & intensity.
 We owe it to future generations to shape a safer, more resilient tomorrow – on the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction & every day.

The @MoECC_Somalia, held a meeting to approve the NAP, chaired by Ministerof State Ahmed Omar, alongside Permanent Secretary Kamal Gutale & DG Yusuf Samatar. Attendees included officials from the Federal States, and UNDP. This plan will steer Somalia’s climate resilience efforts.

Just completed a very successful mission to Abidjan to plan for the 10th Special Session of the African Ministerial Conference on Environment (AMCEN) which will be held in Abidjan from 1st to 6th September, 2024 following an offer by the Government of Cote d’ Ivoire.
