Huge crowd of farmers assembled here at the @farmersjournal and @fbd_ie nitrates series in Hotel Kilmore in Cavan to hear impact of new nitrates regulations on farms in the region. While majority of crowd are dairy farmers new regulations will have knock on affect on all farms.

Thank you to the DAFM Ministers and their officials for taking the concerns of our members into consideration on the ACRES deadline. It is now extended to the 7th of December and will give members some additional time to deal with current workloads.

Heavily pregnant ewes being worried (chased)by dogs for even a short space of time can have disastrous consequences. An incorrect presumption is often made that if the dog does not bite the sheep their is no harm done. .The stress of being chased will force ewes to abort lambs.

Dog attacks on farm animals can result in horrific & often fatal injuries.When any dog, even a small dog, chases sheep the resulting distress can cause the sheep to miscarry their lambs & sometimes even die from exhaustion.Always make sure to have your dog under effectual control
