@tekarin Sometimes you can mix and match these with other items in the store. Like “$1 off each item if you buy 5 or more participating items”. And then a bunch of brands will participate- it might be ketchup, coffee, cheese, trash bags, ice cream, dog food and toothpaste

せっかく自動翻訳機能がついたので本場のアメリカ人に聞いてみたいのは、「リコリス」とかいう見た目も味も食感も完全にゴムのあのお菓子、みんな子どもの頃は本当においしいと思って食べてたんだろうかということ。

@makotopic By flavor. Black licorice is strong and bitter, like star anise or caraway seed. Red licorice is an undetermined fruity flavor like raspberry or cherry or strawberry- sweet, fragrant and slight tartness

@Fraw_DMC There are brands of American peanut butter which contain nothing but peanuts and salt. There are some where no salt is added so it’s just peanuts. The same is true of other nut butters: sunflower butter, almond butter, cashew butter, sesame seed butter (tahini)

@Fraw_DMC @CypherinSilver You can buy peanut butter which is used to make candy (Reese’s peanut butter cups) but it’s only 3 grams sugar per 32 gram serving. The US government subsidizes farmers who make sugar and corn syrup so it winds up in a lot of foods (or food-like substances as some would say)

🚨 Jennifer Siebel Newsom spreads more feminist propaganda, tearing down women in the process. Jennifer is offering her latest take on the “patriarchy,” claiming that Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem were pushed out simply because they’re women. “I need to call out that it’s no surprise to me that the first two prominent people pushed out of this administration were women.” That’s the argument - full stop. No mention of performance, no acknowledgment of the criticism they’ve faced - which, mind you, has come largely from the Left. They've mocked Kristi Noem for looking like a blow up doll, and have been screaming nonstop about the lack of transparency on the Epstein files, which has primarily been the responsibility of Pam Bondi. Liberals have been the leading voices of criticism of these two and their work - yet now they want to flip the script and say they're being fired because they're women?? This is also coming from a crowd that strongly backed Kamala Harris, despite her long record of failures as VP. They wanted her to win JUST because she's a woman. THIS is the kind of thinking that reduces women - EXACTLY what Jennifer Siebel Newsom is pushing. It shifts the focus away from competence, and puts our value entirely on identity. The work itself doesn’t matter. And on top of it all, the same people pushing that argument still can't even define what a woman is. Smdh.

@ahonasaan @deadbeatsred Usually this can’t legally be called “cheese”, but it’s sold as “processed cheese food”. Popular brands are Velveeta and Kraft Singles.

@carrol_genie_ In America there’s also something called “Mongolian Barbecue” (really more like stir fry). They have raw frozen meat, raw vegetables, raw noodles in bins. The guest puts raw food in a bowl then it’s all stir fried together and put in a new bowl. Then you add rice, sauces & eat

@carrol_genie_ Americans call Hibachi cooking “Japanese Barbecue”. “Barbecue” is just a cooking method- slow over low heat. It derives from the Spanish word “Barbacoa” which is a structure made of sticks the meat was roasted over. There’s also “Hawaiian barbecue” which is like a Luay

@roikfbuwgc254 @MoonLitLynx87 Soybeans were mostly cattle feed in America until World War II when meat was scarce and it was used as a protein source. Later in the 1960’s it was popularized by hippies from California, many of whom were vegetarian.

@roikfbuwgc254 @MoonLitLynx87 In the early 1900’s an ex-slave named George Washington Carver developed more than 300 uses for peanuts. He didn’t invent peanut butter but he helped popularize it. In the 1920’s the commercial bread slicer was invented and a lot of sandwiches were developed afterwards

@roikfbuwgc254 @DalaiNightshade Peanuts and wheat actually combine to make a complete protein, and the fat from the peanuts reduces its glycemic effect. Peanut butter doesn’t require refrigeration. This was a nutritionally sensible meal for budget conscious people in America, especially during the Depression

@carrol_genie_ It should also be mentioned that you can cook chicken thighs and drumsticks simply by putting them in a crock pot (slow cooker) and leaving them for a few hours until done. You don’t need to add anything at all. Sweet potatoes also cook well this way. No need to peel.

@carrol_genie_ I cook with this a lot. My recommendation is to cook the meat first, then add the sauce afterwards. Example this Air Fryer Chicken Wing recipe on their website: air fry at 400F 8 minutes, flip, air fry another 8 minutes at 400 F, then toss the wings in sauce

@carrol_genie_ Chicken drumsticks (🍗) and thighs are less expensive in America than wings, and hold up better in the air fryer and also have more meat, so I’d actually use those most of the time
