@mweinbach next move is smartly deferring tasks to codex cloud and remote controls

Not shocking, makes a ton of sense

After getting annoyed one too many times with macOS audio switching, I built AudioUtility
It’s a small menu bar app that lets you quickly switch input and output devices, keep a saved fallback order and exclude devices you do not want automatically selected
Simple, native and out of the way
Available for free (link below)

@mweinbach I use vllm daily at home and at work, tools don't fail but im also very careful when choosing a model i also pass the parser, the reasoning and all other parameters
English

@ErdalToprak @TheAhmadOsman because they don't handle parsing correctly, mess up formats, and just never work
maybe 1 out of 5 tools are called properly on SGLang or vllm, if tool calls even work in the first place. It's near 100% hit rate in llama cpp
English

DGX Spark uses unified memory
> 273 GB/s
RTX PRO 6000 delivers
> 1.8 TB/s (1792 GB/s)
If someone told you they’re comparable, they’re wrong
And this is exactly why llama.cpp isn’t the right tool here
Try vLLM or SGLang on a GPU and you’ll see very different results
Max Weinbach@mweinbach
@TheAhmadOsman I have on DGX Spark and then was having insane tool calling issues and was told by Nvidia to use llama cpp
English

@mweinbach @TheAhmadOsman why would tool calling be broken in other engines
English

@TheAhmadOsman This is then full circle to tool calling is fundamentally broken in those other engines
English

@anshnanda I have no stake in both sides I hope for the best outcome really just stating my overall feeling so far, I’ll wait for their side eventually but as I said personal on demand software is not going anywhere iOS included
English

@ErdalToprak - we were approved for 7 months and scaled to $10m ARR without apple ever complaining
- they were native apps, apple explicitly doesn’t want native apps, i don’t think you understand the issue

1/ As the world’s first ever mobile-first vibe coding tool, we at @vibecodeapp_ made it too damn easy to make apps.
This led to the creation and submission of tens of thousands of apps to the App Store.
And so Apple did this.
But don’t worry. We are just getting started. 🧵👇

@9to5mac @apollozac Of the many dumb decisions favored by Apple, making leading edge development tools unviable on iOS and iPadOS is the dumbest. They are cutting off an entire generation from early exploratory development. Shame on Apple for abandoning the ethos of Woz.

@bedesqui @pariscestchiant It’s 3 clicks and 2 commands at most ?? What
English

@pariscestchiant app signing has to be the worst thing ever 😭😭
would be down to compile it myself if you ever publish the source

my brain always longed for a canvas approach for juggling with multiple terminals
so i built one on top of @mitchellh's ghostty which is Oh So Lovely to work with.
English

btw you can’t do that in pure swift/ui not until I release CanvasKit that’s crazy to say

@abue_ammar @kazzkiq The original post and the GitHub repo are clear it is for the ‘container’ cli on Mac which means Apple Containers, not Docker github.com/apple/container
English

@ErdalToprak @kazzkiq i installed it and it makes 0 sense. where the fuck is my docker that you are saying it's better than orbstack

In Portugal you pay up to €7.50 when you buy a laptop called a "copyright levy"
You pay €4/TB of storage in the computer, so for a MacBook Neo 13" with 512GB that's €2.05
It's regulation made in 1998 to compensate artists for you illegally sharing MP3 files which nowadays of course doesn't make sense anymore since we have Spotify and YouTube
Much of the money doesn't even arrive with artists btw, 30% is taken by the organization collecting the tax and lot of it remains unclaimed and some of that goes again to the organization collecting the tax as "operational costs"
🤡

@andriishafar @kazzkiq This is for Apple Containers not Docker
But I check the install for both ways

@ErdalToprak @kazzkiq how do you handle dependency on docker cli being used by let’s say vscode?
