@phaneritic @gfun @TTremblingEarth @patton_cascadia @timblor The @gCentBulletin that Bill Barnhart and students operated in Iowa did some automated Sentinel-1 InSAR, including an inversion for the earthquake centroid. I am not sure if it is running now that Bill is at USGS.

@gfun @phaneritic @TTremblingEarth @patton_cascadia @timblor The Caltech-JPL ARIA project has posted interferograms and other products, including pixel offset tracking and damage proxy maps, for many large earthquakes in the last decade. See aria-share.jpl.nasa.gov The interferograms and pixel offset maps are under “displacement” folders.

We are hoping that Sentinel-1C can be launched soon.

The ALOS-2 #InSAR result of 2022 and 2024 #earthquakes in eastern #Taiwan from IES, Academia Sinica. The result suggests most of the deformations were offshore, with moderate coastal deformation. This is similar to what we observed along the coastline.

@JosephShea I have not been following the precipitation in British Columbia this winter. I did not realize it was so far below average. The Sierra Nevada in California is also far below average. It seems nearly all the atmospheric rivers have been hitting Oregon and Washington so far.

It seems the main fault rupture likely reached the surface offshore north of the Noto Peninsula.

Any news on InSAR for the western Japan earthquake? Quake was on a shallow reverse fault, so I was wondering about any possible surface rupture. @EricFielding @gfun @SotisValkan

We are returning to a color-blind, performance-based society… where we judge people by their character, effort, and achievements. Identity politics is a road to nowhere, and it focuses a society on what decides us, as opposed to what binds us. As we bend back, however, we must acknowledge that the world isn’t fair and everyone has a different starting line in life. It’s virtuous to support everyone who starts behind us to catch up, but we should do this at the source: education, internships, and skills training. Any family with under ~$50,000 (we can debate a number) in household income should be entitled to unlimited tutoring, skills training, and affordable, if not free, college tuition in degrees society needs. That’s my simple vision… happy to hear yours or how you might build on mine.
