@thevicsoc Why are you using a statistical region that includes Humberside, an unpopular and now abolished local government area created in the 70s and now abolished. Surely use the historic counties?

@Ric4rdoTM @freddie_poser This is delusional. Just go to Bluewater or Lakeside on a Saturday afternoon. You might want it to be over but that's not grounded in reality.

@freddie_poser Most people have no idea that the era of the superstore and large shopping mall is permanently over. Getting that through most people’s heads might go some way to avoid opposition to housebuilding imo

@WalkerMarcus Of course, that would rather defeat the object of nurturing cultural exports that are largely popular on the world stage because they are often anti-establishment, so hopefully they are grown-up enough not to.

Hold on, so this is the current government conceding the case, effectively forcing all future governments to fund anti-British art with British taxpayers’ money? They really hate Britain don’t they?

#BreakingNews Irish language rap-trio Kneecap has won its legal challenge over a decision by former business secretary Kemi Badenoch to refuse them a £14,250 funding award after the UK Government conceded at Belfast High Court it was “unlawful”

@DavidHeadViews But shouldn't impact of students on net migration figures be broadly neutral as 1 cohort comes to the country to start their course while another leaves once it has finished. Am I missing something here?

This is such an important point about net migration statistics. Overseas students shouldn't be included, and politicians have made a rod for their own backs by not excluding them. Such foolishness lurks behind how we count immigration in UK.
John Appleby@JohnApplebyLD

@PolitlcsUK @DannyShawNews Students are not migrants - they go home unless they get a new visa, and their families do too. They are customers, spending money here and increasing our influence abroad. Their numbers should be taken out of the stats, and our universities would also benefit.

To our customers in Newcastle & Northumberland. You may have seen a major dairy company is trialing a product called Bovaer (Produced by a Bill Gates company) to solve the non existant problem of cow burps. We can assure you our cows will never be fed unproven crap like this.

We have just had an influx of migrants in pboro, fenland is neglected transport wise and I am ofc running a widely supported £2 bus cap campaign. The future of Cambridgeshire is bright - but only if people realise Cambridgeshire is more than just Cambridge

Tomorrow the conservatives choose the candidate for mayor There is a very clear bad option. Let’s hope the right one is made Whatever happens and whoever the candidate is - I will campaign for equal care for all of Cambridgeshire and not just Cambridge city itself

@IainDale It's also factually wrong. Look at the swing to Trump in places like London, VA and the Dallas/Fort Worth suburbs. Lots of degrees and strong swings to Trump.

And it's this kind of elitist crap which demonstrates why Trump won. Ordinary voters are replelled by these academic know it alls who consider anyone who hasn't had the opportunities they had, a pleb. They sicken me.

@ThreshedThought Is that really a milestone worthy of celebration in the mother of parliaments?! What next, MPs celebrating 35 years of Homebase, 30 years of George at Asda?

Having attended a hustings last night, I now have no hesitation in voting for @KemiBadenoch . Robert Jenrick has a lot to offer, but I feel Kemi is the candidate who will be able to reinvigorate the conservative cause across all age groups and all parts of the country.

@d_w_k @BarristersHorse @fredgs05 No. Jenrick is dull and uninspiring. No good having policies when you are in opposition, 4 years out from a general election do can't implement any of them

I've no skin in the game of who becomes leader of the Conservative Party - I'm not a member. But 'Trust me, I have no policies but will do the right thing' doesn't exactly fill me with confidence, given the collapse in belief in politicians generally.

@DCBMEP @RobertJenrick Every time I think I could vote for Jenrick people like you come out with posts like this. The public doesn’t matter. The members have the vote. The public has 5 years to scrutinise the new leader.

I supported @KemiBadenoch to be party leader in 2022 and I'm delighted to be able to vote for her this time. I believe she has the values, character and personality to renew our party and lead us back to government.
