Although ventricular enlargement is a key feature of idiopathic normal-pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH), this finding alone is nonspecific, occurring in many conditions, including brain volume loss with aging. The ventriculomegaly of idiopathic normal-pressure hydrocephalus is often described as “out of proportion to brain atrophy,” which is a subjective assessment. Read the full review: nej.md/4pxWVad

Very impressive trial by the CREST-2 team!
NEJM@NEJM

Presented at #SVIN25: CREST-2: In high-grade asymptomatic carotid stenosis, addition of stenting to medical therapy led to a lower risk of stroke over a 4-year period. Endarterectomy did not lead to a significant benefit. Full results: nej.md/3LK9kst Editorial: Managing Asymptomatic Carotid Stenosis nej.md/482XjG1 @svinsociety

Check out our newest manuscript! Molecular microcalcification of the vertebral artery—missed on CT—was incidentally detected in a patient with vascular risk factors. Active intracranial atherosclerosis is a window into subclinical stroke risk. journals.lww.com/nuclearmed/abs…

Last day of 3rd yr rotations ✅ I’m sure much has been written about the experience of ever-changing environments, teams, patient populations — but the opportunity to step into the world of others, even if for only 6 weeks, is truly a gift. Feeling grateful, hopeful, inspired.

Seeing random reports in here of micro-dosing GLP1 (semaglutide) as a “doing my own research” anti cancer therapy (plus the panacea Ivermectin +/- Febendazole). One showed PET with no FDG avidity as proof of response. Question: Could it be just Ozempic affecting FDG distribution?

What’s something you were taught & never forgot? I’ll start. On ICU rounds one day a family was screaming after their loved one died. My attending looked at us all & said, “Understand that for you it’s Thursday. For them it’s the worst day of their life.” I never forgot that.
