@RepFlanell @GIFFORDS_org They use “gun violence” so they can bundle suicides with gun crimes. This allows them to generate misleading ‘statistics’.

Oh @GIFFORDS_org, let’s stop playing word games. The term “gun violence” deliberately shifts blame from criminals to an inanimate object, pushing a narrative instead of addressing reality. Violence is committed by people. Period. Calling it “gun violence” is no different than saying “knife violence” or “car violence," except you only hear one of those constantly, and that’s not by accident. This ridiculous stupid term paints firearms as the root problem, while ignoring the real drivers: crime, broken communities, mental health, and repeat offenders. It also lumps everything together: suicide, self-defense, etc. into one misleading category designed to push an agenda, not solve a problem. If organizations like Giffords and the Office of Gun Violence Prevention (which Colorado pays over 3 million dollars to every year, and who I criticize in this video) is serious about reducing violence, they would stop blaming objects.
GIFFORDS@GIFFORDS_org

Gun extremist and Colorado lawmaker @AvaFlanell_ doesn’t think gun violence is real. Nearly 1,000 people in Colorado die in shootings each year. Seems pretty real and devastating to us.

It’s all good buddy. I’m not trying to call you out but just trying to say that downtown shouldn’t be like it is. We shouldn’t just accept it. I hope it gets better like it used to be. Things need to change 🤷‍♂️

@bstokley14 Stokley I’ll give you credit, most guys with your view point have lots of thoughts on Saturday Night. You showed up with thoughts on Monday. My point on Saturday was that Denver had its problems. Shitting on it doesn’t help. You decided to shit on me for that.

@KyleClark He’s been a terrible AG. He seems to act on what he wants and not what the law is. This case wasn’t a close call. It was viewpoint discrimination — allowing speech on one side and forbidding it in the otherwise. Case law is very clear that this isn’t allowed.

NEW: Colo. AG Phil Weiser (D) isn't optimistic that the Supreme Court will uphold Colorado's ban on conversion therapy for minors. It would be the third SCOTUS loss for Colo. on free speech/religious liberty grounds. I asked Weiser if Colo. is hostile to conservative Christians.

The argument that there should have been two controllers doesn’t hold up. The tower duties were virtually non-existent immediately leading up to the crash. A separate ground controller would have had the same workload at that moment.
Aakash Gupta@aakashgupta

The air traffic controller cleared the fire truck onto the runway. Seconds later, the same controller screamed “stop, stop, stop.” The plane was doing 93 to 105 mph. Both pilots are dead. Everyone will frame this as controller error. One controller was simultaneously managing a United flight that aborted takeoff after an anti-ice warning, dispatching a fire truck across an active runway, and sequencing an inbound Air Canada landing at highway speed. At 11:40 PM. On a mandatory overtime shift at a facility that has been understaffed for years. A system that assigns one person that workload will produce exactly this outcome. The only variable is when. The FAA is short approximately 3,000 controllers. The headcount dropped 13% from 2010 to 2024 while flight volume rose 10%. Over 40% of the FAA’s 290 terminal facilities are understaffed. The New York TRACON, which manages the most congested airspace in America across LaGuardia, JFK, and Newark, has been chronically below target. Newark was operating at 59% of its staffing goal. LaGuardia handles 900 flights a day. The hiring pipeline is broken at every stage. Only 2% of applicants complete the full process. Training takes up to 6 years. The FAA Academy in Oklahoma City is a bottleneck, with roughly 35% of trainees washing out. Congress blocked legislation to build a second academy. In one recent hiring cycle, the FAA brought on 1,512 candidates and lost 1,300 in the same window. Net gain: around 160 controllers for an entire country. Three things need to happen and everyone who can make them happen has known for years. Congress needs to fund and authorize a second FAA training academy. One facility in Oklahoma City cannot produce enough controllers for 900 million annual passengers. Members of Congress from Oklahoma have actively blocked this. That needs to end yesterday. The FAA needs to cut certification time. Six years from application to fully certified controller is absurd. The agency’s own data shows tower simulators reduce certification time by 27%. They’ve installed them at 95 facilities. That should be every facility, and the simulated hours should count toward more of the certification requirement. The FAA needs to stop plugging staffing gaps with mandatory overtime. Controllers at understaffed facilities are working six-day weeks rotating between morning, mid, and night shifts. The NTSB has flagged fatigue repeatedly. The controller last night was managing overlapping emergencies during a nighttime operation. Overtime is not a staffing plan. It’s a countdown to the next runway collision. The controller said “I messed up” to a Frontier pilot who watched the whole thing. The pilot responded “No man, you did the best you could.” One of them is right. The answer determines whether this happens again.

Trump: I have much more power in my second term. I said I'm going to sign an executive order to ensure that the second Saturday in December, is preserved exclusively, nobody is playing football. Not Ohio state against Notre Dame. Not LSU against Alabama. Nobody is going to play football for four hours during that very special time of the year in December. It's preserved forever for the army-navy game. If you don't want to watch football, you don't have to. But if you want to watch football, you are only watching one game. You are not watching 19 different games.

@rosterfe @elonmusk I’ve noticed this issue as well. Grok (reasonably) assigns credibility weights to news sources. The issue is it doesn’t seem to weight how news sources favor reporting what their audience wishes to read. There is a lot of useful information those sources don’t report& Grok misses

Open Letter to Those in Hollywood Who Said "Free Palestine" But Never Said #FreeIran We have watched you. We have listened to every word. At podiums bathed in a billion lights, you declared "Free Palestine." The crowd roared. You felt righteous. You felt brave. But you said nothing about Iran. Nothing about Mahsa Amini, beaten to death by morality police for a strand of hair escaping her hijab. Nothing about the teenage girls shot in the streets for dancing. Nothing about the poets hanged at dawn, the dissidents tortured in Evin Prison, the 40,000 souls reportedly massacred when a regime decided its own people were the enemy. Nothing about the mothers arrested for weeping too loudly at their children's funerals. You vowed not to work with anyone who "justifies genocide." So let me ask you directly: Will you refuse to work with anyone who funds Hamas? Because the Islamic Republic of Iran does exactly that. It arms Hamas. It funded the October 7 massacre — the single deadliest day for Jewish people since the Holocaust — when 1,200 men, women, and children were slaughtered and taken hostage. Iran's regime did not weep for those children. It celebrated. And you said nothing. You called Israel's self-defense a "genocide" — Israel, a democracy where 20% of citizens are Arab, where Arab men and women sit in the Knesset, a country the size of New Jersey that has extended more peace offers than history has recorded acceptances. Meanwhile, in Iran, a regime hangs gay men from cranes. It executes Christians for apostasy. It poisons schoolgirls with gas to deny them education. It has murdered tens of thousands of its own citizens — not collateral damage, targeted killing — with a bureaucratic efficiency that should make every self-proclaimed human rights advocate on earth scream. Where is your open letter for them? Where is your award-show moment for the 90 million Iranians suffocating under a boot the world has agreed, by its silence, to ignore? I'll tell you what is happening, and I say it not with contempt but with grief: it is easy to condemn Israel. It comes with applause. It earns you the standing ovation, the social media adulation, the warm embrace of circles that have decided the Jewish state is the world's one acceptable villain. It costs you nothing. Saying #FreeIran costs you something. It means confronting a regime your silence has helped legitimize. It means standing with people whose suffering has no fashionable hashtag, no viral aesthetic, no coalition of celebrities amplifying their pain. The FBI documented a 400% rise in antisemitic incidents since October 7 — synagogues vandalized, Jewish children harassed in schools, people beaten on city streets for wearing a Star of David. Words like genocide, genocide, genocide do not exist in a vacuum. They land in a world already primed to hate, and they hand that hatred a moral permission slip. So I am asking you — as someone who refuses to let selective outrage masquerade as conscience — to do better. Say #FreeIran. Say it without waiting for applause. Say it for Mahsa. Say it for the teenagers in Evin. Say it for the 90 million people who wake up every morning in a cage their government built while the world's moral celebrities looked the other way. You told us you believe in peace. Then believe in it for everyone. Because a conscience activated only for approved victims is not a conscience at all. It is a performance. And unlike your films, this performance has a body count. With unflinching honesty- Dr. Afshine Emrani Humanist. The son of Iran. A voice that will not be quiet.

Hot take as a woman who actually has really wholesome female friendships: male friendships are kind of… insane. two men can hang out for 4 hours, say maybe 17 total words, share a bag of chips, send each other one stupid reel, and go home like “great catching up bro.” no emotional recap. no post-hangout analysis. no “did I say something weird when I laughed?” they can go 6 months without talking, then meet again and immediately pick up the exact same joke from 2017. women meanwhile will do a full psychological autopsy on a slightly delayed reply. I’m not even judging. I’m just observing a level of emotional minimalism that feels both deeply confusing and… kind of powerful.

@Starlink Your company screwed over thousands of GA pilots who bought Starlink then saw their monthly cost quadruple and included bandwidth dropped by 80 percent. Almost all of the non-jet/turboprop planes cruise over 100mph and under 200mph. The new prices can’t be justified by GA pilots.
