@bbcsomerset Carol Kirkwood assured us on TV this morning that there would be no hurricane. Last time a BBC weather presenter did that, it didn't work out too well...
@tillathenun I've never used Shell chargers, but I've found BP Pulse chargers very good. In some areas they are the only good chargers for miles around.
Tip of the day: Don’t trust an oil giant to maintain their chargers properly.
Both broken for a week apparently. Worker in the shop said “they don’t seem to care”.
Classic Shell.
@tillathenun If the government is serious about promoting EVs they could increase VAT on petrol and diesel cars and reduce it on EVs. This would mitigate both the higher production cost of EVs and the faster loss of resale value.

@Adam_V3D This isn't always the case. The Duet3D Revo Roto Tool Board has the correct sockets to mate with the motor, heater, thermistor and hot end fan connectors fitted by E3D on the Revo Roto hot end.
It seems like there is a major disconnect in the market at the moment between hotend and toolboard manufacturers such that modding is always required to connect them together. How shall we get through this to a better future?
I seem to get less than 100 hours on my 2.4 before thermistor wires fail or something.
One day I hope to live in a world where we don't have to solder tiny wires to other tinier wires and crimp tiny connectors for a tiny plug and press it into a tiny restrictive space 😂
@implausibleblog@EllieChowns Well said! We are often told that productivity in the UK has not increased as fast as in other countries. Parliament is the iconic example of an organisation that for decades has ignored technology, stuck to outdated practices, and, as a result failed to increase productivity.
Must watch on House of Commons reform @EllieChowns
Dr Ellie Chowns, "As a newly elected member, I'd like to offer observations on three elements on how this house operates: sitting, speaking and voting"
➡️ Sitting
- Chamber is too small
- In Council and in European parliament we had own seat, desk, plug in devices
- Extraordinary there aren't enough seats for every MP
There is a practice of Christian prayers, as a daughter of preachers I am familiar with this. But in this day and age where we are a mix of all faiths and none, it might be time to represent a range of faiths
➡️ Speaking
- If we have more time limits more MPs would be incentivised to speak
- Trying to get a slot, bobbing up and down, last week I did for five solid hours without getting attention of the speaker
- This is not good for a democracy
- Find a better way of allocating speaking time
- The culture in this house is everything from excessive deference to braying, we need to clean to clean up politics, we are here to debate in as positive a spirit as possible
➡️ Voting
- It's extraordinary we do not have electronic voting
- While I've been here I've participated in 5 votes, that's taken 1.25 quarter
- If you add up all the votes thats 1.5 months of MPs time, totally unproductive
- If we got rid of the voting lobbies we could double the physical size of the chamber (everyone could then have a seat)
"My final point, if we want to be a truly modern house of commons: proportional representation"
@adrianbowyer I remember that one too! I was 12 at the time. Several years later I got a couple of designs published in PE. The multimeter in this issue was mine.
@adrianbowyer My second computer was a Nascom 2 which I used to sweep the frequency of a laser over a range, measuring its frequency by counting the beat frequency when its output was mixed with the output from a reference laser.
I got really annoyed by stripped socket head cap screws, especially M2, M2.5 and M3. Compatible Torx screws are really hard to get, so we decided to source them ourselves from the best manufacturer worldwide and offer them in our store (still 10% off!): geni.us/CNCKScrews
@OctopusEnergy Hey @OctopusEnergy why is the daily average price of the Agile tariff usually much higher than the Tracker tariff? I was going to switch to Agile but even if I shift some consumption from peak to cheaper periods it will usually cost more than Tracker. (Red=Tracker, Green=Agile).
Launched at #EnergyTechSummit, Cosy Octopus is here – and free for some homes.
Our custom-built high temperature heat pump. Cutting-edge smart heat controls & pods. A bespoke tariff. Available from December.
British designed, British manufactured, optimised for British homes.
@themitch22 The speed of a delta near the edges of the bed is typically limited by the back emf of the motors, assuming you use a good 32-bit board that can generate the step pulses fast enough. This can be countered by using a higher supply voltage to the drivers if they can handle it.
So I can get two dragons to barely fit in the 300mm build plate. I increased my speed double around 100mm/s it reaches, over 1500mm/s2 accel it stalls. I can try input shaping to maybe increase see how far I can push it. I just think this will never reach Bambulabs speeds.
@gunsnrosesgirl3 Could be all of them, none of them, or anywhere in between. A could be decelerating or parked facing downwards on a hill. B could be parked level, travelling at constant speed etc. Einstein's principle of gravity and acceleration being indistinguishable applies.
@engineers_feed How can you call yourselves World of Engineering when you quote temperatures in degF only? Even my own backward country (UK) has moved to degC. Perhaps you should rename yourselves to Backwater of Engineering?
The speed of light is generally rounded down to 186,000 miles per second. In exact terms it is 299,792,458 m/s (metres per second – that is equal to 186,287.49 miles per second).
MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT: You’ve asked us for an update to our warranties, and we’ve listened to you. And to showcase just how much we back the quality of our products, we’re not just offering you the 10 year warranty you might get elsewhere.

@MartinSLewis You need Electric as a separate option. I own an EV and love it. The last two cars I hired while abroad on holiday were petrol automatic (I didn't want to have to learn to use gears again as well as driving on the wrong side of the road) and were awful in comparison.
