There is a lot of detail here, but let me Summarize it this way; in 1997, they decided to “balance the budget” into the future on the backs of physicians by FREEZING our reimbursement. Not any other Medicare cost, only physician reimbursement. So according to the law passed, we are frozen in 1997 unless some emergency “doctor fix” happens on a regular cycle. And congress has decided this is acceptable. Now….they want to tell patients to come back on a second day everytime we need to do a procedure because a visit and a procedure can’t be done on the same day. Patients pay attention, as you walk the halls of the beautiful hospital and wonder why you are so dissatisfied with the care the physician team provides, remember who is getting paid well and who is not. Think back to pre-1997, when I applied to med school. The brightest minds applied, it was very hard to be accepted. If you talk to college kids, they know…….the brightest minds are in engineering or science fields….but not medicine. We all suffer when our physicians are paid poorly.

According to federal health officials, the funds will be cut off from California and Minnesota until the states investigate a series of deranged conspiracy theories and false claims of fraud that have been pouring out of the White House. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will "defer" $867.5 million in Medicaid payments to California and $199 million to Minnesota. The announcement follows a concerted campaign by lunatic right-wing media personalities to gin up paranoia about in-home care and other crucial health services. The CMS is absurdly claiming that California's need for in-home care programs is greater than that in many other states, and thus must be the result of criminality and corruption. Never mind the fact that California is the most populous state in the Union and the 4th largest economy in the entire world. Of course its needs outstrip those of other places! "CMS is done trying to chase down stolen and misused funds after they've already left the building," said snake oil salesman Mehmet Oz, the CMS Administrator. Oz has a net worth between $100 million and $315 million. But according to him, the elderly and terminally ill have had it too good for too long. By cutting funding for their care, he's going to exponentially increase their suffering. This is class war, plain and simple. Conservatives will fastidiously pinch pennies when it comes to saving American lives but when it's time to give more tax cuts to the billionaires or start another pointless foreign war, they unleash the money hose. In the make believe world of MAGA, it doesn't matter that there's no evidence for the Republican fraud allegations. The allegations alone are enough for these crooks to justify changes to federal policy. Of course, Trump doesn't care about the pain this policy will cause because he despises blue states. If you didn't vote for him, he doesn't feel any responsibility to protect your rights, wellbeing, or even your life. You are dirt to him. And let's just zoom out here for a moment. Does anyone genuinely believe that Trump cares about fraud? This is the most corrupt President in American history. He's lining his already-swollen pockets and those of his family with siphoned tax dollars, crypto scams, sweetheart deals, and insider trading schemes. The real fraud is happening in the White House.
