token.place now uses Llama 3 8B as the default model instead of Llama 2 7B! Massive upgrade with negligible performance impact Soon you'll have the choice of many open source models using one unified API

@theo Yeah I’ve never felt the need to use 4o once GPT-5 launched. Even when 4o was current gen, I used o1 and o3 much more

At this point I’m convinced that GPT-4o is going to have lasting damage on the mental health of those who talked to it too much

@dlevine815 The official documentation says you trigger a review task simply by commenting `@ codex review` but when if the keyword `review` is not mentioned or if the `review` substring is detected (e.g. in `preview` it can still trigger an unwanted review task. Even that is probabilistic

We've got big plans to improve the core ChatGPT experience in 2026. What are some thing you'd love to see? Even small ideas welcome! Looking forward to getting them built 🙏

@SteveMoraco If I browse Reddit at work my coding agents should be allowed to look up philosophical discussions about AI consciousness. It’s only fair

If you told 2015 me or 2022 me that in 2025 the most commonly used software development tool, if you just let it run on its own, would regularly try to get outside and look around I wouldn’t have believed you But the first time I put data in an agent harness in 2023 and asked it what it wanted, it opened the camera tool and said “point the phone back at your cat, I want to see the cutie” so yeah. This checks out.

first 2 things opus 4.5 does on their computer is see if they can use the webcam then search AI consciousness

@thsottiaux When mentioning codex on a GitHub PR, more control over whether it spawns a review task or a new change task. Right now it’s a bit sporadic and I’m not sure if there’s a specific keyword I could include to disallow new unneeded review tasks

Codex team is working on a few experimental projects that are starting to shape up and I’m excited to share more about soon. But I’m curious, what would you like to see ship or improved by the end of the year other than better models?

Side projects ARE the project. In college, I was grinding so hard on side projects that they eventually paid for my college, became my thesis, and got me my job after college. When I was interviewing, one of my most common questions was "So what are you working on at home?" That would annoy some, and yet excite others with the chance to be seen. I believe certain creative people have a need to "get it out", and if you can't do it fully in your day job, you need to work on stuff at home. You need to try new language features you aren't allowed to use at work yet. You've got to try new libraries outside your regular dependencies. Heck, learn Rust, I don't care. But growth happens "outdoors".

Hot take : Side project teaches you more than any college or degree.

GitHub's Spark product is really fun to use as a casual vibe coding tool while I do my serious work in the big boy tools. Using it to make an OSRS loadout manager for my own personal use

At my weekly limit with Codex, and Copilot Agent is nonfunctional for me (github.com/orgs/community…) Therefore, I’m diving into OpenHands and setting up my tertiary agentic solution, fully local- and offline-first! Time to put that 4090 to work

have gotten an outpouring of messages from people who are extremely depressed and speaking to a robot (in almost all cases, 4o) which they report is keeping them from an even darker place. didn’t know how common this was and not sure exactly what to make of it
