How is this not a conflict of interest? I pay Tesla $400/month for insurance. This cost is determined by my “safety score.” I also pay Tesla $100/month for FSD (full self driving). My safety score often DROPS while using FSD, thus increasing my premium. “Sorry Chris, our software made some errors, so pay us more in insurance. OOPS! Totally our bad. But pay up please. And keep using FSD!!” I don’t think it’s always been this way.

@OGMarsLife Solid research, thank you. I am confused about one thing, what does the speed offset feature do in the settings? I have 14.2 and still have this in my settings. I set to +25, but when is it utilized?

Tested FSD 14.2.1 Speed Profiles from MadMax to Sloth, on 65 MPH freeway. Here are the results: - MadMax when to 79 (14 miles over) and stayed in passing lane - Hurry dropped down to 75 (10 miles over) - Standard dropped it further down to 69/70 (4/5miles over) - Chill dropped to 67 (2 miles over) - Sloth dropped to 63 (2 miles under) Verdict: I prefer Standard on freeways and MadMax in city. @chuckcook @DirtyTesLa @mikepat711 @aelluswamy @Tesla_AI

@roger_kappler It’s the worst version to give free trials out for. People are going to assume the speed cellings and highway deceleration are normal.

FSD 14.2.1 initial impressions: - same as 14.2 😁 Speed profiles on highway are still too robotic compared to 14.1 versions. The immediate slow down to +5/+10 above speed limit is unnatural. And the car should ar least temporarily be allowed to go beyond those limits when overtaking. Right now, it is sitting again in left lane with 0.5mph speed difference to the car it wants to overtake. Not good "highway citizen" behavior. This is tough to get right, I get it... @aelluswamy @elonmusk @Tesla_AI

@actuallyajoke It’s crazy how this was allowed to happen. The speed cellings ruin FSD and are more dangerous than just following the flow of traffic. I Really don’t want to stay in mad max the entire drive but you basically have to on the highway

Time for a rant about the adjusted speed profiles in 14.2.1. Let me start by saying that I think speed profiles on city streets are pretty great now, but on the highway, oh boy. Firstly, profiles now have very obvious speed caps, like Standard at 5mph over and Hurry at 10 over. Mad Max seemed willing to do up to 20 over. This is all well and good until you run into shitty map data. Going up the highway on my way home (which is 55mph the whole way, the state speed limit) FSD thought most of it was a 45mph zone. Traffic was doing 65-70. Standard absolutely refused to budge over 50 (and didn’t want to get out of the middle lane to boot), Hurry just managed the speed limit thanks to that +10 cap, which left me only Mad Max to keep up with the flow of traffic, which isn’t ideal, as I don’t always want FSD to initiate such frequent lane changes. Due to the profiles having these speed caps, there are more issues. Switching down profiles immediately changes your speed to the lower limit, meaning you get a strong immediate slowdown, which isn’t too nice. Another effect is that the profiles don’t seem to realize they are at the limit, and so try to pass, but they can’t actually do so, which results in classic Tesla driver blocking the left lane syndrome, and basically requires you to screw with the profiles or use the signal, not very relaxing. Again, profiles seem great on city streets, but kind of suck on the highway now, mainly thanks to poor map data and obvious speed limits for profiles (a recent issue on the highway here). Ok, rant over 😁

@mikepat711 For #3 I found it goes: 5mph over speed limit in standard, 10mph over speed limit in hurry. The only exception is if it reads say a 45mph sign when the car is clearly on the highway. The speed limit sign will have a blue highlight when this happens.

FSD V14.2 COMPLAINT MASTER LIST: Here’s a list of user complaints I’ve seen in the feed, starting with most common: 1) Navigation issues. Weird routing issues causing unnecessary routing loops or incorrect turns. 2) Reading speed limit signs incorrectly. 3) Less sentience on highway. Strict guardrails inside of each speed profile preventing car from overtaking when needed/adjusting speed for sentient driving behavior. Basically a jailed version of 14.1 on highway. 4) Signaling to switch lanes, but not committing/turning back or cancelling maneuver. Anything else? Parking lot selection is one, but not going to count that because it’s already in improvement notes.

You are a taker, not a maker. All you’ve done your whole life is take from the makers of the world. The zero-sum mindset you have is at the root of so much evil. Once you realize that civilization is not zero-sum and that it is about making far more than one consumes, then it becomes obvious that the path to prosperity for all is just let the makers make. Regarding Tesla, the reality is that I have been given nothing. However, if I lead Tesla to become the most valuable company in the world by far and it stays that way for 5 years, shareholders voted to award me 12% of what is built. Anyone who wants to come along for the ride can buy Tesla stock. If Tesla “merely” becomes a $1.999 trillion dollar company, I get nothing. This is a great deal for shareholders, which is why they voted so overwhelmingly to approve this, for which I am immensely grateful. And they did so by a margin far more than you won your political seat.
