@mattkalish “Bring it on idc lol” Aka Kalish stopped popping adderall or snorting coke, realizes he was coming off incredibly cringe the last week, and is trying to spin it

@SaladBarFan Do they have DEI for people who can’t even bench their body weight? I can still talk the talk with chud coworkers to cancel it out. And I’ll follow all orders!

@NateSilver538 @mattyglesias Brown is incredibly underrated. He got the 08-09 Cavs to go 66-16 with LeBron + scrubs. He went 48-34 and 46-36 b2b years with THE KINGS!

@mattyglesias Yeah, Occam's razor is that Brown is a really good coach and it took some time for them to figure out all the relevant tactical adjustments.

Not sure there's a great precedent for this Knicks playoff run? With young teams, sort of. But a veteran team just waking up one day and playing like the '96 Bulls for 11 games and running?

@NateSilver538 How about the 2023 Texas Rangers even though the MLB playoffs are a dumb variance fest. The Rangers went 13–4 in the postseason, going 2–4 at home and 11–0 on the road, the most road wins in a postseason in MLB history.

I know this may sound like a truly poverty-spec salary to an adjunct professor and/or podcaster in Bushwick, DuPont Circle, or the Mission District. But nah I swear you can live quite comfortably in this income in Mesa, Arizona ! It's true !

This is a good example of what radicalizes Mamdani’s base: Ostensibly the type of person who takes this job is going to be sort of smart and well educated (credentialed) but they’re only going to be comfortable financially and lifestyle-wise in NYC if they have a trust fund or it’s a second-income vanity career. You can get off a plane from wherever and barely speak English and make this much driving an Uber. Nurses in NYC can easily make $150k a year. The dynamics of our economy that funnel people into these sort-of-high-status/ mediocre-salary jobs make them insane and then they become Leftists who want to burn everything down.

Lacy says Matt Kalish isn’t wrong about FaZe losing millions, but says the model was flawed and the cost was inflated by extra employees. Now with Core, he says their YouTube channel alone pays for their new $2M house 😳 “Clearly, the FaZe model was flawed from the beginning.”

As registration closes you'll have bunch of people all jump in. Most tables will now be roughly 20bb average. Sites "data" shows them 3.5 hours of late reg is good. This is insanity and its been happening for years now. All of these people would have jumped into the tournament 2 hours ago. The tournament overlays by 7 people and there is essentially 0 amateurs in the field.

@BigBearBummers Yeah plus you’re not required to have insurance on a fully paid off home, which let’s be honest - this is a classic property ladder / cash buyer property

If the asking price gets cheap enough, someone will bid even if the insurance is expensive. But yes, at this price insurance costs will be a MAJOR deterrent.

Interesting to compare this current matrix to start of year (below). The top-50 group has overperformed, winning 14/20 non-opposite events (Fitz bros get 1 win each for Zurich). Still a lot of turnover though: ~19/50 guys won't be in Sigs (if they exist) to start next year.

@williameijer My theory too is that the shittiness of the cities inflates suburban real estate and a number of other things. I think “conservatives” get in a smoke-filled room with Liz Warren and Mamdani and tell them to stay soft on crime 😂

@Euphoric696 We’re venturing into noise territory rather than signal here. It doesn’t really matter what label they call themselves or what acute improvements happen. The incentive structure remains, and the same results should be expected over the medium to long term

The fatal flaw of democracy is that the underclass is always more numerous than the upper class, and their votes count the same. In practice, this means that you can make life worse for productive, law-abiding residents and still get elected. In fact, it’s best if you do. It works especially well with low-trust, zero-sum thinking people, now an ever-greater share of the electorate. Of course, at some point the city will become a dump and people will leave; it has already started. But there’s now a magic trick called mass immigration, where you can bring in millions of new voters to prop you up. Just make sure your city is marginally better than the third-world country they fled, and you’re golden. There’s not much point in trying to blame specific individuals. The thirdworldification of cities is simply baked into the incentive structure of democracy × unselective immigration. LA, NYC — same story
Westside L.A. Guy@WestsideLAGuy

If Pratt loses, L.A. is officially done and I don’t think it can recover. Here’s what’s really happening in L.A. -Crime & homelessness have skyrocketed. The official crime stats is misleading because lot of crime is now unreported. I have never seen more homelessness & disorder in all my time here -The city will build low income housing in Palisades, Santa Monica, in the name of “equity,” thus resulting in higher crime & lower quality of life -The purpose of the new transit lines is to bring in low income people, drive down housing prices, and expel affluent residents -The city has deliberately promoted anti growth policies that drove out Hollywood jobs, hurting workers in the industry -The city has refused to use its significant natural advantages to bring in tech, finance, & other lucrative businesses or investments -The economic malaise has crushed businesses. The once lively Third Street promenade in Santa Monica is a ghost town. Many of my favorite bars & restaurants have shut down Decline is a choice, the result of failed liberal policies. This isn’t about Dem vs GOP or MAGA. It’s about restoring a city we love and seeing it reach its full potential. Pratt 2026

@wil_da_beast630 I don’t like what’s going on in some inner cities, but I also recognize that black Americans often have lineage going back to the 1800s or earlier. They are more American than these random “Subway Takes immigrants” by a mile!
