That's mostly true. The spread of atheism was never based primarily on logic or critical thinking. All the arguments atheists use today could have been made for thousands of years. It's not like they recently discovered new evidence that proved God couldn't exist. When you actually look at how atheism spread first through academia and then to the general population it was primarily through fashion. It was more a vibe or aesthetic than anything else and that's still how it primarily spreads today.
