@SpeakSamuel It is a problem of bad money drives out good issue. Back in the days,majority of H1Bs were top at their countries. There wasn't a quota, nor a lottery. Getting a consular appointment wasn't an issue at all.

This H-1B worker has lived in the US for nearly 20 years and built a family here. His mom was dying in India. To visit her, he would need to wait months to book a consular appointment--with the soonest one available likely being scheduled one year out. He made the difficult choice of not visiting his dying mom because leaving without an appointment would mean separation from his children, job, and his other obligations. Much of the commentary around immigration focuses on how such bureaucratic burdens undermine immigrants’ ability to contribute and innovate. But we must remember that this red tape also prevents these people from being fully engaged with their own lives and meaningfully present in the lives of others. This matters too, and these seemingly non-economic problems will eventually translate into economic costs. They can’t automate just to boost margins while workers are pushed out. China has decided that wages, fairness, and employment aren’t optional. And that’s a big shift. While the west races to replace labour as fast as possible, viewing AI as a free-for-all… China has set a precedent that profit alone isn’t enough and corporations must answer to society.

A Chinese court has ruled it illegal to replace human workers with AI purely for the sake of cost-cutting. The court decided that companies hold a social responsibility to treat workers fairly and pay them what they're worth.

First world problem: I’m boarding my @Delta flight. Family with kids boarded ahead of me. They’re sitting in the back. I’m 1A. They put 3 bags in the first class overhead. I say excuse me I’m in 1A can you leave me room for my bags and take yours to your seat please? Flight attendant yelled at me and made me put my bag in the middle of the plane. I know it’s petty but If you’re in first class that should be your space.

@MarkLynchSC H1B itself helped America, it was designed to bring top talent to the US. Sadly, it has been abused by people exploring loopholes. It's like a piece of software that doesn't get security patches at all.

25% of those unemployed in America today have a four-year degree. The idea that we need to import workers because companies like Amazon, Oracle, FedEx, and others can’t find qualified Americans is flat-out WRONG. They want to cut costs by hiring H-1B employees for a fraction of the wage, then force Americans to train their replacements before getting laid off. We need to END H-1B, OPT, and other visa programs that lead to one outcome: UNEMPLOYED AMERICANS. America First means American workers first!

it blows my mind how inhospitable some flight attendants can be. I'm in the last row on the aisle on a @united flight. pre-takeoff, the two FAs behind me are standing around talking about vacations, etc - just killing time. I had an empty cup with ice, so I turned to see if I could get one of them to throw it away so I didn't have to hold onto it through takeoff. this female flight attendant turns to me with an inauthentic/condescending smile and puts her hand up to indicate "wait"... for several seconds. the other FA instantly turns, sees me with the cup, and immediately reaches over to take it and throw it away. she was also talking about how she's been flying for 20-something years. I'm sure you're getting jaded with the job but man, what happened to just being a nice person, especially when you're on the job and taking care of passengers is part of the job description?
