@glenngabe Don’t understand why you guys think losing rank mid-update is bad and make people panic. There are always ups and downs before things normalize. I once believed that and made changes—ended up causing permanent loss. During updates, fluctuations are normal.

@ryanwashere No idea how many people is dump, it is actually very effective strategy.

Bidding on a competitor's branded keywords is so dumb.
Branded search is by far and away the highest intent search - what's the end goal here?
You think they're going to hire you and not realize it wasn't the business they were searching for?
So dumb, so petty, so basic, especially from marketing agencies. Shouldn't you know better?

Good Morning Google Land! This is the July 3rd edition of "Core Update Notes". Like I thought would happen, I am now seeing much clearer impact from the June 2025 core update. And there are some big surges and drops across verticals. I have a number of sites documented seeing significant movement across health and medical, jobs, reviews, travel, gaming, recipes, reference sites, and more. And there are some recoveries from the March 2025 core update showing up as well... See third screenshot below. Stay tuned.

@lilyraynyc Algorithm will show you what you like. It is not your choice anymore 🤷♀️

Am I the only one who doesn’t want to watch AI films?
Ewan Morrison@MrEwanMorrison
According to Google AI marketing, everyone can be a filmmaker now. Ok, let’s just say that’s the case - a huge problem emerges. 500,000 new films with no distribution system. Nobody with time to watch them. Overproduction reduces the visibility & value of each competing film.
English

@Nick_zv_ If your website has authority you can do anything you want. Google doesn’t touch it but If you are new or trying to create something helpful but do some mistakes, you are down 🤷♀️

"Google will penalize you for AI content."
WRONG!
I dug through their Search's guidance about AI-generated content.
Here's Google's ACTUAL stance on AI.
—
Google doesn't penalize AI content simply because it's AI-generated.
What they DO penalize is content with:
- Little to no effort
- Little to no originality
- Little to no added value for visitors
This applies to ALL content - whether created by humans or AI.
—
Here's what Google actually says about AI content:
"Appropriate use of AI or automation is not against our guidelines. This means that it is not used to generate content primarily to manipulate search rankings, which is against our spam policies."
Key points:
- "Using AI doesn't give content any special gains. It's just content."
- The focus is on "the quality of content, rather than how content is produced"
- Content should demonstrate E-E-A-T: expertise, experience, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness
- AI can "power new levels of expression and creativity" and be "a critical tool to help people create great content"
—
Google specifically targets these “problematic” practices:
- Scaled Content Abuse: Mass-producing low-effort, unoriginal content
- Site Reputation Abuse: Publishing third-party content to piggyback on established ranking signals
- Deceptive AI Practices: Using fake AI-generated "authors" with fabricated profiles
- Zero Added Value: Content that adds nothing new compared to existing resources
—
The tool doesn't matter. The effort, originality, and value do.
Here's how to create AI content Google would consider high quality:
✅ Be intentional with AI prompts - Generic prompts create generic content
✅ Add unique insights that make your content valuable
✅ Include original research - Screenshots, images, or your own data
✅ Fact-check thoroughly - AI can hallucinate; verify all claims
✅ Edit ruthlessly - Cut generic intros and "AI-sounding" text
✅ Ensure real expertise - Have actual experts write/edit or contribute insights
—
Bottom Line:
Google isn't anti-AI. They're anti-laziness.
Use AI as a tool in your content creation process, but ensure you're adding real human value, expertise, and originality.

@TrumpDailyPosts Maybe tariffs on Russia will solve this. He think it solves everything.
English

@glenngabe Also So much sexual content on Instagram and sexual workers are getting braver because looks like Instagram allows everything nowadays.
English

OK, disturbing development. My son told me today that his Instagram Explore page is filled with insanely disturbing videos including people dying, fighting, getting dismembered, and more. His friends are seeing the same thing. He just showed me his feed. It's insane. I wish I could unwatch the videos he just showed me. Anyone else hearing about this? That just happened today btw. @techmeme

@elonmusk @WarlordDilley YOU clearly DO NOT understand THE SYSTEM of Checks and BALANCES and that’s EMBARRASSING

@rustybrick Google is just trying to survive in the AI world. They are sinking and taking everyone with them 🤷♀️

@elonmusk Russia can withdraw today. Just like we withdrew from Afghanistan and Vietnam. Russia can leave at any moment. They can just leave.

Russia went too far 3 years ago, now the Ukrainian government has gone too far.
Endless death in trenches is wrong and anyone who continues to push that lacks both empathy and a brain.

Wtf happened to him in the last 3 years?
English

@RyanDarkgrey You are succesfull because you are just being yourself. If you start adjusting yourself for the slaves who wants softer videos, you will lose your authenticity.
English

@rustybrick @AdomasSulcas @iPullRank But AI is much more advanced than this. Find the weaknesses of human writing and improve it almost perfectly! Google’s examples don't look like AI writing 2025!

@rustybrick Google is up to something. I have never seen ranks shuffled like that before. It has been the worst month for our e-commerce websites!

@glenngabe My website has one core update up and the other one down. Never understand what causes.

Saturday morning is a great time to read my latest post covering Mark Zuckerberg's comments about ML classifiers, confidence levels, and how that can impact collateral damage when updates roll out. And if you swap "Social" for "Search" he could be talking about any major Google algorithm update. If you're interested in algorithm updates, and how collateral damage occurs, you should read my post (which includes Mark's video). gsqi.com/marketing-blog…

English

@carolynholzman @lilyraynyc I see, understand but This one is very interesting one another e-commerce and I believe it is new.

English

@Evilworld1234 @lilyraynyc curious - I took a look at archive data and it looks like during the "flatline" they were using only their dot com (vs. .com.au) and then changed back - that would explain the steep down and then steep up appearing to do that in one day.
English

The website Reviewed.com just made a comeback, after disappearing from the SERP for almost 2 years.
