@TomasPita183010 @DistantCoder You're overlooking the fact that they can hit all of the effects on the same chain right? Look at the hand, see what you have to interact/and play on your turn, then mess with your topdeck, and then rip from extra. Perfect hand knowledge is incredibly strong.

Reasons why Kewl Tune is toxic: - Rotary looking at hand - Clip & Crackle ripping the extra deck - Kewl Tune Synchro being twice per turn - Rosewhip Imo all these TOGETHER push the deck over the edge of being too toxic. Remove 1 or more of these and it’d be more fun tbh

Some will be played because your deck isn't affected by the restriction or can play under. Its an additional interaction your opponent needs to kill in order to win.

It's stuff akin to a blood moon or chalice. If you draw it going first, it can completely shut out your opp. Then you just kill on the next turn

Every TCG is going to have non-games. Non-games are the result of variance which is something TCG's need. Some people feel like Magic's non-games are worse because the variance comes from the mana system, so a MTG non-game is "you don't play you cards." In reality this is no more of a non-game than some Hearthstone card doing something random to kill you out of nowhere, but Magic takes more heat for it because it feels worse. It's basically the same concept as how in Commander you can Doom Blade your opponent's commander and it's fine, but if you counter it they get salty. The result is the same, but the Doom Blade gives you the illusion that you were actually making progress and doing something. It tricks you into thinking your decisions mattered, but really they didn't. Non-games in other TCG's do a better job of giving you this illusion, to tricking you into thinking that they aren't really non-games because you are taking game actions and doing things. But really they are the same as getting mana screwed.

Searching for extension, interaction. The ability to win on a crackback. To make a full board and still have cards left over.

Bro non magic players don't know what the fuck is going on with their resource systems and all they want to do is point at magic and say "you have to admit it's flawed' Does your resource system turn into threats (Mutavault)? Enable splashes (fetches)? Do stupid shiii (bazaar)?

Some have been incredibly consistent because you can basically "buried alive" combo enablers whilst doing a normal sequence of play, only deviating to send the ftk enablers and not regular extenders

@jamesey_r @MillThat Magic has using your graveyard as well. Entire decks are about winning turn 1 with your graveyard (ironically these decks often have no lands).

Lots of cards have effects when they get sent to the GY, and modern card design has given a lot of cards extra effects that can be used while they're in the GY, as a way to continue the resource loop and generate advantage

@AlphaNightmare_ @fedginator firstly, count the side deck. if its not 15 something is clearly wrong then. my issue comes from time. If its game 2 with 20 mins left and they spend 3-4 mins pile shuffle into riffle its gonna bug me.

@fedginator @ExaltedPurple Doesnt account for a card falling, opponent taking it due to gamestate and forgetting about it, putting it back in the extra deck etc., if you riffle properly afterwards it isnt an issue (riffling a bunch isnt really a fully random deck but thats another story entirely)

Nct time somebody who pile shuffles against me and the hands me the deck to cut I'm gonna pile shuffle it anticlockwise back with the same number of piles and see how they react to the "randomisation"

I haven't watched the video nor do I think I need to. If I had to guess, the take here is trap cards no longer serve the purpose of being a thing you fill 1/3rd of your deck with that your opponent has to tiptoe around or risk being punished if they play into them. "You've activated my trap card" kind of thing. Instead trap cards have become one of two things: 1. A card you can activate from hand, defeating the original purpose of trap cards 2. A 1-of that you search within a combo (usually a generic omni-negate) that your opponent knows is there because it's the only trap card you play in your deck, also defeating the original purpose of trap cards being a surprise. How close am I? (for the record, if these are the points brought up, I agree with them)

@pykmku I like to think of it as consensual manipulation. I wish it worked like it does in fiction, but its more like a lot of brain training and trickery. But still lots of fun
