@jon_trickett Since the pandemic many still struggle, with business closures, redundancies, debt laden and a mh health crises, and this is driving pressure on NHS services, so your voice is required on our @APPGGapsSupport for those #ExcludedUK in #normanton #hemsworth? x.com/i/status/20549…

Reports today say Labour MP Josh Simons is standing down from Makerfield so Andy Burnham can seek a route back into Parliament, with Burnham confirming he will request Labour NEC permission to stand. Andy Burnham has been one of the very few senior political voices to consistently acknowledge the devastating injustice faced by the 3.8 million UK taxpayers who were excluded from parity of Covid-19 financial support. He has joined #ExcludedUK livestreamed events, listened to those affected, challenged the lack of fairness, and raised the wider failures of Covid financial support at the Covid Inquiry. So today’s news that Josh Simons MP is stepping down to allow Andy Burnham the opportunity to seek a return to Parliament is significant. This is not about party politics. It is about whether the voices of the excluded, the bereaved, the broken, the still struggling and the never-compensated will finally be heard where decisions are made. For too long, our community has been ignored, dismissed and expected to simply disappear. We are still here...minus +40 who felt no other option but to take their own lives... and hundreds who attempted to. ExcludedUK will continue to work with anyone, from any party or none, who is willing to fight for truth, justice and recognition for the 3.8 million who dutifully paid in, but were deliberately left out. To talk about how you can support our campaign, please contact jennifer@excludeduk.org excludeduk.org DID YOU GET LITTLE OR NO FINANCIAL SUPPORT DURING COVID? Were you excluded from fair and equal Covid-19 financial support? If so, join some of the other 3.8 million UK taxpayers who were, as we campaign for this scandal to be put right.. bit.ly/3UunLTY Dutifully paid in, deliberately left out! Lives & livelihoods ruined! 40+ suicides and hundreds of attempted suicides! @TiceRichard @ExcludedUK @LincsLive Richard @Nigel_Farage and @reformparty_uk claim to be the party of business and workers, yet even with them all having many #ExcludedUK constituents they are the only party to have not one MP on our @APPGGapsSupport to fight this injustice @ClactonGazette x.com/i/status/19762…

@Nigel_Farage With you still bluntly refusing to represent your #ExcludedUK in #clacton #Essex, we suggest that you also now visit as they feel totally let down after all of the support shown by Giles Watling. @ExcludedUK @APPGGapsSupport @ClactonGazette @Essex_Echo x.com/EmmaLewell/sta…

@MetroMayorSteve With our community also now being cut adrift by the @UKLabour Leadership Steve, no wonder why your party received a bruising set of election results. So all Labour Politicians must come together and now end the #ExcludedUK injustice on an industrial scale. x.com/i/status/13301…

Despite years of paying taxes, 3 million people have been left with no support from the government since this pandemic began. It is an injustice on an industrial scale. @RishiSunak – do the right thing and give @ExcludedUK the proper support they need. #ParityNotCharity

Great to welcome Business and Economics pupils from my constituency to Parliament recently. We had a really thoughtful discussion covering everything from the economy and climate change to my time in Government and the changing nature of British politics.

@wesstreeting Wes. After shouting from the rooftops to the Tories for parity of support, your government has chosen to look the other way, so with @UKLabour's drubbing last week, trust must be earnt before the #ExcludedUK including in #makerfield vote @UKLabour again. x.com/i/status/13159…

Brilliant question from @UKLabour’s @AlexDaviesJones on the plight of those #excluded from Government support. @SteveBarclay says “we’ve covered this” 😱 Tell that to the millions of people left struggling by this Government’s complete inaction. They’re not going away.

@RishiSunak "Mr Sunak, my mum is a small biz owner & my dad is a freelancer. Politicians refer to them as the backbone to the economy. Why ? when you devised schemes that excluded them both from accessing support when their incomes fell to zero during pandemic ?" #ExcludedUK @Prosper_UK_

It’s been a bruising set of results for Labour in many parts of the country, and we need to be honest about what that means. First and foremost, I want to congratulate every Labour candidate who has won or held their seat. Campaigning is never easy, and everyone who puts themselves forward deserves credit for stepping up to serve their communities. But my heart also goes out to the many hardworking Labour candidates and councillors who have lost their seats. Local councillors are the lifeblood of our movement. They’re the people knocking on doors in all weathers, helping residents with the issues that matter most, and putting Labour values into practice day in, day out. Many of them will have lost today not because they failed their communities, but because voters are sending a message about issues far beyond the town hall. We have to be honest with ourselves about that. Labour cannot afford to ignore what these results are telling us. We are haemorrhaging seats in parts of the country and losing support in different directions. Pretending otherwise helps nobody. Politics is about listening, learning and adapting when people speak. Today, they have. This has to be a wake-up call. Because if we don’t respond, if we don’t reconnect with the communities we were elected to represent, then we risk letting down the very people we came into politics to fight for - and creating space for voices that thrive on division, not delivery. Adapt or die isn’t much of a slogan – but it is the reality of modern politics. The Labour Party has always been at its best when it has been a movement rooted in working people’s lives, hopes and concerns. That’s where we need to be.
