The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled right-hander pitcher Lázaro Estrada from Buffalo, Triple-A, per source.
He is expected to join the team tomorrow.
Estrada, 26, threw 2.2 scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts on Friday in Triple-A Buffalo.

One note from the wknd. Blue Jays wondered if Brendon Little was tipping pitches. They also wanted more four-seamers (which he worked on in spring). John Schneider also said Little: "got away from what he was doing in spring" ... "just didn't use his pitches correctly"

@JoshuaHowsam That is correct. The tiebreaker is pool play position. CAN 1 PUR 2 VEN 2. Odds that both of them lose are about 30%

Do I have it right that if Japan and Italy both win today (against Venezuela and Puerto Rico, respectively), Canada would qualify for the Olympics as the 2nd place Americas team as a pool winner (USA excluded as the host)?
Or would they go to some RA/9 formula for QF losers?

The WBC is so fun bc Canada needs to win today to not be eliminated and so does Mexico but they both need to keep advancing to qualify for the 2028 Olympics

@CeaseIsKing What are they going to strike out on purpose? Both teams meet and agree that once it’s 3-0 they walk off the field? If Mexico is up 3-0, Italy may still be concerned that they can tack on more runs and Mexico will likely be concerned they can tie it with one swing.

USA Advances if either:
- Italy wins
- Mexico beats Italy by scoring 5+ runs
USA Eliminated if:
- Mexico beats Italy by scoring 4 or fewer runs
Tiebreaker if Mexico wins, scores exactly 5:
11 runs allowed for Italy, USA
Italy will have had 1-3 fewer fielding outs
