The only people who are truly in an “extremist death cult” know with pure unwavering faith that the heavens and the earth, all the moments, lessons, tragedies, loves, triumphs, and acceptances are random, pointless, and nihilistic. I’m a man of faith who believes with all his hearth that God is benevolent, merciful, and eternal. I believe that our soul existed before our birth and after our death. But I don’t know for sure like it’s a “fact” I can’t prove that. When someone I love dies I feel intense loss and pain and confusion. I have faith and even my logical deductions point to my faith, but I don’t have the blind and extremist mindless commitment to it like a materialist does. Materialists, what if you are wrong and your actions do matter? What if at death that is presented to you. The consequences are extreme What if I’m wrong and upon my death there are no pearly gates only eternal oblivion. Then what? Well, my “ignorance” just made me do better things for others and myself. Here’s the crazy thing. Even if it’s oblivion at death I’m still grateful to God and I wouldn’t change my behavior. I like who I am with hope and gratitude and if this is all there is I don’t want to waste a moment in despair, greed or nihilism. I see so many “Christian pastors” lying (objectively) and manipulating for money. Their god is money. If you have any faith at all in the eternal you would never do that. You’ll sin and make mistakes and catch yourself on a bad path, but the knowing and intentional Judas goating those who trust you that you’ve said you would protect, that’s impossible to do with faith. Dollars are a lesser god who hates his servants. Choose wisely
