John Piper, prior to tweeting about sojourners, tweeted this. In fact, this was the 6am to the other at 6pm. And John tweets scripture at 6am and 6pm regularly from across books of the Bible, usually tweeting from the same book on the same day. To think he’s weighing in on your topic of the day is narcissism.

“You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason frankly with your neighbor, lest you incur sin because of him. You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.” Leviticus 19:17–18 Jesus read this as a summary of the law.

Piper quoted a verse about how we treat foreigners. Not a verse about immigration policy, not about whether ICE is justified, not about the merits of deportation. It was about treating them like a person—with humanity and due process. Seems some of y’all just want to be cruel.

It's an awful thing to "innocently" quote Scripture in a way that subversively promotes leftism. Everyone agrees with that. So then, the only thing left to debate is whether obvious things are obvious. That's a tiring debate.

Piper out here reminding everyone why the boomers allowed the Church to be taken over by progressivism. I love my boomer parents but their steadfastness was the exception not the rule. That generation has done incalculable damage to both our nation and evangelicalism.

“You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus 19:34 Christians know the miserable bondage we were all in.

Notice he doesn't directly advocate anything. Rather, he just posts the verse, implying that the only possible interpretation is that we have to have mass immigration no matter the cost. They love this tactic.

John Piper’s little commentary at the end was paralleling God delivering the Israelites out of Egypt with Christians being delivered from the bondage of sin and death. I really think he just posted this to make that observation after reading the verse but people are automatically assuming that he was using this to make a political statement and it concerns me and also makes me pause and examine my own reactions to things. How often do we just react to what we think is being said, react to what we assume, vs taking the time to really make sure we understand what another person was saying before we jump down their throats? Do we KNOW that’s what they are actually saying or is that just what we heard because we have been so contaminated by “the discourse”. This is something I have struggled with from time to time. I will hear someone say a thing I associate with another thing and immediately get on edge. This is something I have struggled not to do with my younger brother, for instance. He will say a thing and it raises the alarm bells because I have heard awful people say that same thing and so in my mind I associate that thing with the awful person’s worldview. Oh but maybe I need to calm down for a second and ask what he means by that instead of immediately jumping into attack mode. My mind recognises a pattern and I panic instead of asking if I could be mistaken. That is what many people seem to be doing here. I genuinely do not think, based on the comment he made, that he meant to make more of a statement than what is actually said in his tweet. Just like the Israelites were commanded to treat the sojourner with love, having been delivered out of Egypt, so we as Christians are to treat the unbeliever with love, knowing the bandage we were delivered from. That seems to be the parallel he is trying to draw with this verse.

I genuinely would like to assume that he is merely quoting a Bible verse but if you look at past times when he has posted similarly it’s exactly when the topic of illegal immigration has been a top story. He posted something similar right after the events in Minnesota involving ICE. And if I were to conclude that he merely happened to post THIS verse without context and no idea of how it could be interpreted, that would show a true lack of wisdom and understanding of the times in which we are living. If that is the case, it reflects badly on his discernment as a shepherd.

Brothers and sisters, Have you considered that John Piper might not be saying what you think he is saying? Love believes and hopes all things. Unless you know, for sure, what his intentions with the tweet are—it would be wiser and more loving to assume the best.

At the risk of throwing a grenade into the X-sphere, I have a question for those who interpret the David/Bathsheeba story as rape. (Genuine question... not a gotcha, and not an attempt to minimize David’s sin, which Scripture clearly condemns.) This morning I read the story of Joseph and Potiphar's wife in Genesis 39. My question is... If Joseph had slept with her, would he be considered not morally responsible considering the power imbalance? He risked his life saying no, and ended up in jail. If significant power differential removes meaningful agency in one case, does it not also in the other? How does Scripture present the idea of personal agency in these types of situations?

If DJT is unambiguously exposed by the Epstein files, he should 100% face full accountability for it. But, it also would not cause me to 2nd guess whether or not I voted for him in the last 3 elections. Let the reader understand.

🚨 MAJOR BOMBSHELL: Ted Lieu says the full, unreleased Epstein files show Donald Trump R*PING children. That’s what’s being hidden. That’s why the files stay sealed. That’s why there are no arrests. Release everything. Let the truth come out. Or RESIGN!
