Principles for Orthodox apologetics. 1 - Before anything, revere God in your heart. This involves prayer, attending services, and seeking God with all your heart. This is only found on your knees in prayer. 2 - Be prepared. For Protestants this "preparation" centers around knowing the Bible very well. If you are going to debate a Sola Scriptura person you need to be prepared to answer them on their terms - from Scripture, not tradition. And Scripture supports Orthodoxy because it came out of the Church. But the Bible also tells us that we are not to prepare a defense in advance. Luk 21:14-15 But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. This means we are to be guided by the Spirit. 3 - When apologetics is done right, it's done with ""gentleness and respect". Pride and arrogance are the downfall for all of us. Talking over the other person is one evidence you are not acting with respect. The other person is allowed to be rude. The Orthodox Christian is not. They are allowed to be arrogant. The Orthodox Christian is not.

@LowStudies @btbsoco So you’re not part of the true church God created? Oh. I mean that’s fine too. You do you, salvation is clearly still laid out in scripture.

I will say these types of articles are mostly useless All you need is to be fairly jacked and handsome and have a fairly strong jaw area and the right Orthodox girl will come

@LowStudies Oh, man. Mine got 50 bucks and some Belgian beer. By his surprised expression, I don't think he was expecting anything.

@ProdigalSonSong I've been following him on X for a while. Way too Zionist for my taste. You don't have to wrap your arms around Israel to reject Islam.

@LowStudies Bob is a knowledgeable man and a great debater of Muslims. I don't know who supports him tbh. I'm not sure if there are Zionists supporting him. But I do believe his intentions are good.

Can we get some cradle folks to give us neophytes some guidance on giving monetary gifts to our priests? We are falling short fellow neophytes... Example - When a priest comes and gives your house a blessing what do cradle Orthodox do? I understand there's food sometimes. Is there a typical amt of $ to give as a gift?

@ProdigalSonSong I'm cautious about saying these guys are all grifters without evidence but without support from Evangelical Zionists these guys can't make it.

@LowStudies I'm a big fan of Bob in general. Even supported him on patreon and went to a few of his meetings. I do think he should keep low key on this issue. But he's a big ecumenist, and I can see his argument, even if I don't agree with it.

@LowStudies Fair enough. I wouldn't call it compulsory but I can't see anything wrong with a member of a congregation helping out the Church. I'm not Orthodox... yet ... but I've been to some Romanian Liturgies and even a bum like me gave a donation lol.

@LowStudies It's a regular thing every Sunday for people to donate cash to their church. Like €50 sometimes. And food and drink. It's not buying anything.

Public estimates for Patriarch Kirill's personal net worth are unverified and range from around $4 billion (2006 Forbes/Moscow News reports) to $4-8 billion (2019 Novaya Gazeta). They stem from 1990s church duty-free tobacco imports and real estate holdings (e.g., $2.87M confirmed in 2020). He has faced scrutiny over luxury watches and properties. Reliable figures for other Eastern Orthodox patriarchs or top bishops are not publicly available and generally far lower, with many adhering to modest monastic lifestyles.

Let me bring some clarity on this current situation which I call "baptismal gate".😆 We as protestants genuinely DO NOT CARE whether or not you charge for your sacraments. We think it's weird, but generally we're not going to make a fuss about it. THE PROBLEM IS: Orthodox members attacked protestants for the past 3 years or so accusing us of making profits off our members so the pastors can live extravagant lifestyles. They claimed their church (the "TRUE CHURCH") doesn't charge its parishioners like the "false, ungodly, rock concert, storefront" protestant churches. But now the receipts are coming out showing the Orthodox Church not only charge, but they itemize the "recommended" costs, which protestant churches don't do. All were saying is don't be hypocrites because the same judgement you bring upon others will be brought against you. Matthew 7:2

I’ve been thinking deeply about prayers to the saints and intercessory prayer. Anyone from other traditions willing to discuss this on discord maybe?
