Citizenship is a privilege, not a reward for breaking our laws. 9% of births in America are due to mothers who are illegal immigrants or those who have temporary status. This includes the mother of the siblings indicted for leaving explosives at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa. I held a press conference this morning just blocks from MacDill Air Force Base. I discussed my policies on defending the homeland to prevent terrorism from continuing to threaten our backyard. As Governor, I will ban visa holders from nations of terror from infiltrating universities and government-contracted companies. I am a staunch advocate for the Department of Homeland Security’s counter-terror training efforts, and getting Florida state and local officers and deputies involved. This is how I will keep Florida safe.

Florida should be a place where you can build a life, not struggle to keep one. Working families and seniors are being squeezed by rising costs, and it’s time to take that head-on. We’re focused on the real cost drivers: property taxes, property insurance, auto insurance and housing. It’s time to Make Florida Affordable Again, and make it a place you can call home for the long haul.
