@glenngabe Any possible way this is connected? I've had a TON of 404 notices and every one is the homepage with an asterisk at the end. Not that I think it's doing any harm I just wonder why all of a sudden. I've had 20 of these at least.

"Core Update Notes" for 12/26 continued. I am also now seeing a number of sites surge with spam during the December core update. Some with millions of pages indexed and many unrelated to what the site was originally covering. Will be interesting to see if this is addressed before the update rolls out... or maybe even via manual actions (if Google catches on to what's happening there). I'll watch this closely. Here are three examples below, with one now at 3.7M urls indexed...

Google Morning Google Land! This is the 12/14 edition of "Core Update Notes". As expected, the update is landing, and in a big way for some sites already. I'm seeing big swings in search visibility based on running the numbers for over 3K sites previously impacted by major algorithm updates. Like with any broad core update, I'm seeing impact across verticals and countries (including health/medical, finance, gaming, affiliate, ecommerce, reference sites, news, media, and more). I still have many more sites to check and I'll cover more about what I'm seeing during the update. So today is a good day to start checking your visibility trending across tools. Also, GSC data has starting coming in through 12/12 so at least GSC is catching up. I'll cover more about the update soon.

@FLwebdesigner I have not seen this yet! Yeah im assuming this is promoted pins and that they saw the square pin on Google maps in one of many many places it currently is and clicked the square promoted pin.

We got a click for windows, general contractor, concrete, siding, screen enclosure, sandblasting, powder coating, landscaping, handyman, cleaning service, AIRCRAFT painting, tinting, sheetrock, framing, drywall, carpenter, flooring... I could keep going

Net positive? Or net negative? Also (and just paying devils advocate lol) how do we know that they are including past search history on any of these things? Can we verify that information anywhere? Shouldn't that men that this campaign type has a high conversion rate overall when compared to regular search campaigns? Does it?

@AnthonyHigman @MenachemAni I did an experiment and it seemed to preform okay - few random searches we should have never shown for. Then I implemented it and it TANKED my search campaign. It's a painter and we came up for CPA. I think we painted a CPA office and said that somewhere on the site... 😑
