@FinKitch Because he appears to be a very average manager. It's good that he's got the fans on side but he's shown nothing to prove that he's able at this level

@MattHughesDM Lampard wasn't given 30m to spend on the full backs, it's pretty well known they were Benitez signings. I know it's only the Daily Mail but you've still got to try.

It’s Joe Allen’s birthday today. You remember him. Welsh international midfielder. Swansea, Liverpool, Stoke. And Spring 2016 cover star of Chicken & Egg magazine...

@Millar_Colin I took 'major exits' to mean major players who have exited, seems a bit of a stretch to redefine it just because a club let a player go. I agree James didn't do it enough but the 3 mentioned were the key creators and DCL the finisher, lose all 4 and it clearly isn't the same side

@FMTeamGuide And on the point of 'major exits' - in the context of the club willingly moving them on too. Not saying that decision was right or wrong, but those decisions very much the club's.

Everton were second in the Premier League on Boxing Day 2020. Today, they are in the relegation zone as things stand. No major player exits in that 14 months either.

@iain_games @AFHStewart @EliasBurke @TheAthleticUK I'm Derby at the moment and it's not as bad as you'd think. There's some real dross in that league so with a good start you can catch up with a few teams relatively quickly. The young players develop well too if you tinker with individual training. It's a fun challenge!

@BillRoddham @barneyronay He still hasn't been supported by that amount of elite level players and crucially, not in such a dominant team. Jansen is a funny inclusion but the broader point is fair imo

@FMTeamGuide @barneyronay He’s a quality forward no question, would he get more for Madrid probably. He’s had plenty people creating for him at Spurs though and the mention of Jansen etc is completely irrelevant. Could equally name 2 Madrid flops

In this I make the Stunning Claim that prime Harry Kane would have scored the same goals as Ronaldo if he, not Ronaldo had played the same years with modric, benzema and co, instead of bryan Gil and Marco janssen. Is this true? Who knows. But it’s exhilarating red hot opinion

@BillRoddham @barneyronay Modric and Bale left Spurs about a decade ago when Kane was on loan to Championship clubs. Kane hasn't been part of a dominant team but still has ridiculous numbers. Could he have averaged around a goal a game for a Real? It's unlikely but not out of the question.

@barneyronay Yes imagine if he’d played with Son Bale Eriksen and Modric who create loads . And not two reserves who never played

@WarrenBonathan @SkySportsPL Totally agree that the TV media is largely responsible for VAR. Thing is there now seems to be even more spotlight on officials so it hasn't helped much. They've got controversy they can milk to keep us watching the ads though so I guess it worked out ok for them!

@FMTeamGuide @SkySportsPL Indeed, I just feel VAR came in because Sky (and MOTD) were pulling referees apart. I don’t like VAR, but if you’ve got it I don’t there can be grey areas.

@WarrenBonathan @SkySportsPL Pundits will rip anything apart, it's easier to scream scandal than provide actual football analysis. We can't be afraid to improve the game in case Savage savages something though. Accusations of bias will exist whatever route is taken.

@FMTeamGuide @SkySportsPL You and I both know that the pundits would rip it apart, accusations of bias would be thrown apart. Cricket had Umpires call, football is a different kettle of fish. For the record I agree, but I can’t see it working.

@WarrenBonathan @SkySportsPL They can use it for clear and obvious errors and avoid difficult / marginal decisions. They need to understand the tech and human limitations that make this kind of accuracy impossible and use it pretty lightly imo

@FMTeamGuide @SkySportsPL To be fair Ronaldo thought this was ok yesterday. It either is or isn’t, if you’re using technology then it can’t be open to interpretation.

The Supporters Clubs, Fans Groups and individuals who are actively involved in the campaign went to the Clubs HQ tonight to send a message to the board. This included new blues who joined since our first space. This was not a protest. It was a flash stunt to gain media attention.

@davidpreece12 Haha I'm sure a bit of that goes on, especially on decisions that could go either way. Abuse contributes to a lower standard of ref too I think. I mean, who wants to be a ref? Can't even get someone to ref kids games half the time!

@FMTeamGuide When I was warming up before games, I could hear my own team’s fans giving referees abuse and thinking “Well, we’re not getting that big decision today” 😂 They’re not robots

If we had 20 cameras at every game and Social media level scrutiny 30/40 years ago, we’d also see referees didn’t get everything right and were arguably worse then too. The “corrupt” shouts make me laugh as well 😂

@davidpreece12 I agree and that added scrutiny leads to more abuse which leads to less wanting to ref at grassroots level which leads to a pretty shallow talent pool to draw from.. the result of which is pretty obvious. VAR is no help, I'd argue it's harming standards if anything.

@FMTeamGuide This is exactly it. People think more scrutiny equals better decisions but I’d say the opposite. Take the pressure away and the decisions would be more clear minded.
