We can always argue what is "fair" for job benefits. But There were many paid police/fire/ems who were hired under contracted terms, and then later (MUCH later for many of them) those terms were changed by the state. They were basically told "Yea, we know we promised you $x if you risked your life for this job for 20yrs. Yeah, we know you factored that in when you accepted the job, kept up your end of the contract, and continued to work here. But now that you're ready to retire, did you REALLY think we were gonna keep our end of the deal? HA! Here's $y instead, take it or leave it, and thank you for your service, sucker!"

One reason I often don’t like unsolicited advice is that people will suggest a bunch of stuff that I have either already tried or already thought through but if I push back or explain why that wouldn’t work too much it makes it sound like I’m just making excuses. Like people make me feel as though if I don’t take THEIR advice it means I don’t really care about improving or doing what is best 😅 Do you get what I’m saying?

Doing this with a recommendation of a psychology book to fully understand this is really what helped me a lot. The sin wasn't the issue and I couldn't "pray it away" it was me running and understanding what I was running from.
